Use branches of pagoda tree (Styphnolobium japonicum), willow, toon, paper mulberry, and eggplant (one jin each) to decoct in water until three large basins are filled. In summer, soak and wash in a large basin, adding hot water to maintain temperature. After washing, cover with blankets to induce sweating. Avoid exposure to wind for three to seven days. If not fully cured, washing again yields miraculous and effective results.
For wind-induced paralysis: Use castor seeds, peach branch, willow branch, mulberry branch, pagoda tree branch, and toon branch, plus eggplant root, to decoct a soup for washing; this is effective. (Another prescription uses branches of toon, paper mulberry, willow, and pagoda tree, winter-aged mugwort, eggplant, feces from old poplar trees infested with worms, and dried chrysanthemum flowers (with stems and leaves). Take five chi long and two chi wide sections of these materials, spread them evenly, add fire to burn them until the ground is hot. Sweep rice straw on top, spray wine onto the straw, and cover again with rice straw. Strip the patient of all clothing, slowly remove the blanket, dress the patient, and enter a sealed room to avoid wind for several days; walking ability returns to normal.)
For wind-pain: Use papaya (Chaenomeles speciosa), ephedra (Ephedrae Herba), sea rattan vine (Sargentodoxae Caulis), aconite root lateral preparatum (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata - *Note: Text says 'Cao Wu', usually refers to Aconitum carmichaelii lateral root processed or unprocessed depending on context, here likely raw or lightly processed given external use*), white eggplant root, angelica sinensis (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), saposhnikovia root (Saposhnikoviae Radix), and gentian macrophylla root (Gentianae Macrophyllae Radix). Decoct in wine and rub on the affected area.
Another prescription for wind-toxin attacking and penetrating joints causing pain: Use castor seeds (clean flesh, pounded, one liang), frankincense (pounded, one qian five fen), and raw Chuanwu (Aconiti Radix - peeled, five qian). Mix with refined wheat flour (one liang), ox-hide glue (three qian), ginger juice (five qian), and scallion juice (five qian). Melt and blend into a plaster. Apply to the affected area using skin paper; it stops pain immediately and is very effective.
For Li-jie disease (pain in all four limbs/joints): Grind sulfur (Sulfur) with vinegar and apply as a poultice. ○ Another method: Pound garlic scapes (Allium fistulosum bulbiferum) until mushy, heat them by stir-frying, and apply as a hot compress.
For cold-damp Bi syndrome (painful obstruction), numbness, and loss of sensation: Use Chuanwu (Aconiti Radix), Caowu (Aconiti Kusnezoffii Radix), long pepper fruit (Piperis Longi Fructus), nardostachys root (Nardostachyos Radix et Rhizoma), and sand ginger (Kaempferiae Rhizoma) (each five qian). Powder them, heat them, wrap in cloth, and apply as a hot compress to painful areas.
For bone and tendon pain, and contracture of hands and feet: Use Chuanwu (one jin) powdered finely. Place aged vinegar from the previous year in a clay pot and simmer slowly over low heat until it resembles paste. Apply to the affected area. If the illness has lasted one year, itching will occur one day after application. During itching, have someone pat the area with their hand until the itching subsides. First, wash the area with a decoction of primrose root bark (Primulae Radix et Rhizoma - *Note: Text says Shengma Pi*, likely referring to Primula or similar root bark used in local formulas), then apply the medicine. Avoid wind.
For all wind-pains of hands and feet, as well as alcoholic gout, frozen shoulder, and pain caused by dampness, this is a miraculous formula: Use scallions, garlic, and fresh ginger (extract natural juice from each...) For various wind-pains and itching, masses and sores, and traumatic injuries, this is an effective formula: Peucedanum root (Peucedani Radix), angelica dahurica root (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix), ledebourellia root (Ledebouriellae Radix), cassia twig (Cinnamomi Ramulus), atrylactylodes rhizome (Atractylodis Rhizoma), ligusticum wallichii rhizome (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma) (each three liang), and prepared aconite root (Aconiti Radix Praeparata) [Text cuts off]
