Powdered Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae Preparata, 6 fen) and Bingpian (Borneolum Syntheticum from the top of the plum blossom, 4 fen) are ground together into an extremely fine powder. For any illness occurring within one to six days, apply this medicine to the eyes.
Differentiate by gender: apply to the left eye for males and the right eye for females. Recovery occurs with sweating. If more than seven days have passed, regardless of gender, apply to both eyes; the effect is miraculous.
Treats chest and diaphragm discomfort and pain caused by Shanghan (Cold Damage), as well as all conditions of Cold accumulation, Heat accumulation, Food stagnation, Phlegm binding, Pi syndrome (epigastric fullness), and Water retention, especially in patients who are too weak to withstand aggressive purgative therapies. Applying this method will resolve stagnation and disperse pathogenic factors, with efficacy like a spirit.
Take a large handful of Congbai (Scallion Bulb with roots), two large pieces of Laoshengjiang (Old Ginger Rhizome), and four or five raw Luobo (Radish). (If Radish is unavailable, substitute with one he of Luobozhong [Brassicae Semium]). Muddle these three ingredients together and stir-fry until cooked.
For cases where Cold invades the Three Yin meridians, presenting with Jingkou (lockjaw), aphonia, rigid limbs, spasmodic pain, absence of pulse in both hands, resembling Zhongfeng (Wind Stroke); or Jue-ni (cold extremities), cyanotic lips, retraction of the testicles in men, retraction of nipples in women, or Qi-jue (syncope) after sexual intercourse, use Congbai (Scallion Bulb, 1 jin) lightly muddled and stir-fried hot. Apply via moxibustion-like ironing to the lower abdomen below the umbilicus, changing frequently, until warmth penetrates and self-recovery occurs. Additionally, mash 3 cun of Congbai, decoct in wine, and administer orally to restore Yang Qi. This is an emergency prescription. Alternatively, place a jar filled with hot coals or boiling water on top of the stir-fried scallions for ironing, which is even better. For severe cases, use Aiye (Mugwort Leaf) moxa cones the size of beans to moxa Shenque (CV-8, 1.5 cun below the umbilicus) and Guanyuan (CV-4, 3 cun below the umbilicus), seven times each, so that the pulse gradually returns and hands and feet warm up, allowing for survival.
For Shanghan complicated by internal injury, food stagnation, and blood stasis, causing hardness and distension of the lower abdomen, obstruction of urination and defecation, inability to speak, mental exhaustion, fixed gaze, and rigid arms extending straight, indicating a critical condition difficult to treat with oral medication, decoct Zisu (Perilla Leaf, half a jin) into a thick liquid. Fold a large hand towel several layers thick, soak it thoroughly in the hot liquid, wring it out slightly until damp, and spread it on the patient's abdomen down to below the umbilicus. Massage in circles with the hand over the towel; replace when cool. Repeat several times until warmth penetrates, causing accumulated food masses and blood stasis to descend naturally, with efficacy like a spirit. If anal constipation persists, mix honey and Pig Gallbladder Bile, refine into strips, and insert into the anus to guide passage. However, the accumulated feces must still be regulated with medicinal treatment.
