Ruan E (Tonsillar Abscess) occurs in the throat, resembling a nipple. Those occurring on one side are called Dan Ruan E (Unilateral Tonsillar Abscess), and those on both sides are called Shuang Ruan E (Bilateral Tonsillar Abscess). Using a small knife to puncture the nipple-like protrusion: if black discharge is scanty, it is difficult to treat. Whenever using knives or needles, if bleeding does not stop, apply finely powdered Guang Sanqi (Notoginseng Radix) to the wound to stop bleeding immediately. When using knives or needles, do not damage the base of the tonsil (Di Xia) or the root of the tongue. Remember this well.
For She Nu (Tongue Hemorrhage) with continuous bleeding, treat primarily with Liu Wei Tang (Six-Ingredient Decoction) added with Sheng Di Huang (Rehmanniae Radix), Mai Dong (Ophiopogonis Radix), Niu Xi (Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix), and Xuan Shen (Scrophulariae Radix), and simultaneously insufflate Liu Hua San (Willow Flower Powder).
Xuan Yong (Palatal Abscess) occurs in the upper palate, resembling a purple plum. It is appropriate to puncture the abscess head with a needle, use Gan Cao Tang (Licorice Decoction) to swish out all stasis blood, and then insuffilate/administer Liu Hua San.
Sai Yong (Parotid Abscess) occurs below the cheek, causing swelling and congestion around the throat. First, mix Qi Zhi (Shepherd's Purse Juice) with Xuan Ming Fen (Mirabilite) to stir away phlegm; then examine the purplish-black areas and puncture to drain stasis blood. The method of insufflation and administration is as described above.
Hou Chuang (Throat Ulcer) is caused by Ming Men Xiang Huo (Ministerial Fire from the Gate of Life). When the ulcer suppurates, puncture it with a silver needle, then wash the area with a decoction of Jing Jie (Schizonepetae Herba) and Gan Cao (Licorice Root). The method of insufflation and administration is as described above.
(Ya Yong, Ya Xuan, Ya Tong)
Zou Ma Ya Gang (Gangrenous Stomatitis) presents with redness and swelling of the gums, gradually turning purplish-black and foul-smelling, indicating Wei Re (Stomach Heat). Ya Yong (Dental Abscess) involves pain and swelling at the gum margin with suppuration. Ya Xuan (Periodontal Disease/Alveolar Pyorrhea) involves complete swelling of the gum roots, exposing them externally. Insufflate Liu Hua San and concurrently administer Qing Wei San (Clear Stomach Powder). For Ya Tong (Toothache), use Liao Ya Zhi Tong San (Pain-Relieving Powder for Teeth) and concurrently administer Ge Gen Tang (Kudzu Root Decoction).
Hou Liu (Throat Tumor) occurs beside the throat, resembling a longan fruit, wrapped in blood vessels. Do not use knives or needles; instead, insufflate She Xiang San (Musk Powder) and administer Jia Wei Gan Jie Tang (Modified Licorice and Platycodon Decoction).
Jian Chun (Callus Lip) presents with blisters on the lips resembling cocoons. At the initial stage, moxibustion with small moxa cones should be applied, followed by the application of Wan Jin Gao (Ten-Thousand-Gold Ointment).
Fei Jue Hou Bi (Lung Exhaustion with Throat Obstruction): In cases of chronic Hou Bi (Throat Obstruction), frequent use of cooling and descending medicines leads to surging phlegm, hoarseness, or rattling sounds like sawing wood. This indicates that Lung Qi is about to perish. This condition is difficult to treat. It is appropriate to use Du Shen Tang (Single Ginseng Decoction), or concurrently administer Ba Wei Tang (Eight-Ingredient Decoction), or concurrently use Shi Quan Da Bu Tang (Complete Great Tonifying Decoction). If administered early, one or two out of ten cases may be saved.
Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma), Bai Zhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma), Fu Ling (Poria), Zhi Gan Cao (Prepared Licorice Root, each 1 qian), Da Zao (Jujubae Fructus, 2 pieces), Sheng Jiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens, 1 slice).
Decoct in water and take orally.
