Bone Toxic Stagnant Sore (Gu Du Zhi Chuang)
This is a disease of the Foot-Taiyin Splein Meridian (Zu Taiyin Pi Jing). This meridian has abundant Qi and scarce Blood. It occurs at the Qimen (Jimen, SP10) acupoint on the leg. If painful, it is treatable; if painless, it is difficult to treat. Also known as "Leg Fa" (Tui Fa). After twelve days, it can be punctured with a needle. If the pus is yellowish-red, it is treatable; if the pus is greenish, thin, and foul-smelling, it is untreatable. The sore appears red and white, indicating that bone toxicity is manifesting externally. If suppuration does not occur within ten days, death is inevitable.
Chen Liver Sore (Chen Gan Chuang)
This is a disease of the Hand-Shaoyang Sanjiao Meridian (Shou Shaoyang San Jiao Jing). This meridian has abundant Qi and scarce Blood. It occurs in three to five locations on both arms. The symptoms resemble boils with severe swelling and pain that is unbearable; friction or contact must be avoided. If there is a head (pustule), it can be punctured after fourteen days (two sevens); if there is no pus but the body is feverish, swollen, hard, and the face is red, death will occur after sixteen days (two eights). Also known as "Flea Abscess" (Zao Ju). The sore spreads to the hands and changes to involve the Hand-Yin and Hand-Yang meridians. Death occurs after three years. If itching is severe, death occurs after one month.
Red Flame Sore (Chi Yan Chuang)
This is a disease of the Hand-Taiyin Lung Meridian (Shou Taiyin Fei Jing), caused by contracting Wind-Heat. The Lung governs the skin and hair. Since this meridian has abundant Qi and scarce Blood, it manifests all over the body. It presents as red spots and is also known as "Red Flame Wind" (Chi Yan Feng), resulting from excessive Heart Fire and Heat in the Blood. There may or may not be red spots. If it persists without healing, it transforms into Li Feng (Leprosy-like disease). Treatment should focus on dispelling wind and clearing heat, using formulas such as Fangfeng Tongsheng San (Saposhnikovia Decoction for Unblocking the Intestines).
Blood Lineage Sore (Xue Yin Chuang)
This is a disease of the Foot-Shaoyang Gallbladder Meridian (Zu Shaoyang Dan Jing). This meridian has abundant Qi and scarce Blood. It occurs beside the Yuanye (Yuanye, GB22) acupoint and the hypochondrium. The sore is red with a head; if headless, it is the size of a soap nut, located within the muscle, causing stabbing pain like a needle prick. It suddenly enlarges to the chest. It involves the Foot-Jueyin Liver Meridian (Zu Jueyin Gan Jing), which has abundant Blood and scarce Qi, occurring at the Qimen (Qimen, LR14) acupoint, named "Axillary [Abscess]" (Ye ...). In women, this condition causes the sore to migrate to various parts of the body. After two to three years, it transforms into "Knotting [Abscess]" (Jie ...). After three to five years, black fluid is discharged, leading to death.
Heaven Sore (Tian Chuang)
This is generated when the Hand-Taiyin Lung Meridian (Shou Taiyin Fei Jing) is affected by Summer-Heat, Dampness, and steaming Qi. The Lung governs the skin and hair, so it manifests all over the body with blistering white pustules resembling burns, accompanied by unbearable pain. When the skin breaks, it becomes red and sticky. Apply Ding Fen Chi (Dingfen Red, a mineral preparation) mixed with juice from Loofah leaves (Sigua Ye) to rub on the area, which leads to recovery. Take Xiangru Yin (Mushroom Drink) frequently.
