清凉丸(见菌毒)
Phlegm nodules on the eyelids arise from dampness stagnation, forming lumps shaped like dates or beans. Located between the skin and muscle, they are movable upon pushing, with normal skin color, hard texture, but no pain.
[Note] This condition forms in the upper and lower eyelids, situated between the skin and flesh. The larger lumps resemble dates, while smaller ones resemble beans; they are movable when pushed, with normal skin color, presenting as hard swelling without pain. It is caused by damp-phlegm and qi stagnation. It is suitable to take Huajian Erchen Wan (Hardness-Resolving Two-Chen Pill), and externally apply raw Arisaema Cum Bile (Sheng Nanxing) soaked in vinegar, ground into a thick paste, frequently applied to the eyelids. For cases of short duration, it will dissipate quickly; for long-standing cases, although it cannot dissipate immediately, frequent application will thin the skin. Gently scratch the surface, then use fingernails to squeeze out white powdery fluid, after which it will resolve. Apply Beiye Gao (Bay Leaf Ointment) to close the wound. If it ulcerates from inside the eyelid, healing is difficult.
Huajian Erchen Wan (Hardness-Resolving Two-Chen Pill)
Chenpi (Aged Tangerine Peel), Banxia (Prepared Pinellia Tuber, each 1 liang), Baifuling (White Poria, 1.5 liang), Gancao (Raw Licorice Root, 3 qian), Baijiangcan (Stiff Silkworm, stir-fried, 2 liang), Chuanlianhuan (Coptis Rhizome, 3 qian).
Grind all ingredients into fine powder, mix with decoction made from lotus leaves to form pills, sized like wutong seeds. Take 2 qian per dose, washed down with plain boiled water.
[Pill Song] Huajian Erchen Wan resolves phlegm, curing nodules throughout the body; it contains Chenpi, Banxia, Fuling, Gancao, Jiangcan, He Ye, and Chuan Lianhuang.
Beiye Gao (See Ulcer Section)
Jiaochuang (Granular Conjunctivitis) and Suchuang (Follicular Conjunctivitis) arise within the eyelids, with spleen-stomach blood heat as their root cause. Suchuang is yellow and soft due to dampness, making it easy to dissipate; Jiaochuang is red and hard due to heat, making it difficult to resolve.
[Note] Both conditions occur inside the eyelids and are caused by spleen-stomach blood heat. However, Suchuang leans towards excessive dampness, hence its yellow color and soft shape, making it easy to heal; Jiaochuang leans towards excessive heat, hence its red color and hard shape, making the sores difficult to eliminate. Both are suitable for taking Qingpi Liangxue Tang (Splea-Clearing Blood-Cooling Decoction) and externally washing with Qingliang Wan (Cooling Pill). If there are piled-up red filaments inside the eyelid, it indicates blood heat with stasis. The method is to scrape the affected area with a rush pith (Dengcao) until blood flows, which leads to recovery.
Qingpi Liangxue Tang (Splea-Clearing Blood-Cooling Decoction)
Jingjie (Schizonepeta Spike), Fangfeng (Saposhnikovia Root), Chishao (Red Peony Root), Heishen (Black Ginseng), Chenpi (Aged Tangerine Peel), Chantui (Cicada Slough), Cangzhu (Atractylodes Rhizome, stir-fried), Baixianpi (Dictamnus Bark, each 1 qian), Lianqiao (Forsythia Fruit, heart removed), Shengdahuang (Raw Rhubarb Root, wine-washed), Houpo (Magnolia Bark, ginger-fried), Gancao (Raw Licorice Root, each 0.5 qian).
Add 30 bamboo leaves, decoct in water, and take after meals.
[Decoction Song] Qingpi Liangxue treats Jiaochuang and Suchuang; it contains Houpo, Chenpi, Lianqiao, Chishao, Cangzhu, Chantui, Heishen, Jingjie, Fangfeng, Gancao, Baixianpi, and Sheng Dahuang.
