Liver abscess (Gan Yong) arises from resentment, stagnation, and rebellious Qi. It presents with swelling and pain at the Qimen acupoint (LR-14), sleep disturbances with startles, abdominal fullness, and difficult urination. Clearing Liver heat and nourishing Kidney Yin will achieve success.
[Note] This condition originates at the Qimen acupoint (LR-14), characterized by dull pain and slight swelling, causing distension and pain in the hypochondrium, waking easily when lying on the side, and difficulty in defecation and urination. It is caused by resentment, stagnation, and rebellious Qi. Initially, administer Fuyuan Tongqi San; subsequently, administer Chaihu Qinggan Tang. Once pain and distension cease, Liuwei Dihuang Wan is appropriate. If there is Spleen deficiency with poor appetite, supplement with Bazhen Tang to nourish the Kidney and tonify the Spleen for therapeutic efficacy. Warm tonification and acupuncture are contraindicated.
