Treats severe cases of "Fabei" (back carbuncle) where the pathogenic heat/toxin is rampant and uncontrollable. Application of this remedy resolves the condition.
Angelicae Dahuricae Radix, Rheum Palmatae Radix et Rhizoma, Bletillae Rhizoma, Phellodendri Cortex (stir-fried), Hibisci Mutabilis Folium, Smilacis Glabrae Rhizoma, Natrii Sulfatis Crystalloides (raw), Xanthii Fructus (equal parts).
Grind the above herbs into fine powder separately. Mix with water to form a paste for external application. Apply around the periphery, leaving the center open. If it dries, moisten with water.
Resolves all kinds of sores and toxins, as well as necrotic and purulent flesh; it is particularly effective in promoting the elimination of old tissue and generation of new tissue. Use Crotonis Fructus (remove shell, stir-fry until scorched), grind into a paste. Dab on swollen areas to resolve toxicity; apply fully to dissolve necrotic tissue spontaneously. A small amount of Boswelliae Resina may be added. When used inside ulcers, it helps extract pus and detoxify; add a little Sesame Oil, dilute appropriately for use. For residual toxins deeply embedded that prevent wound healing, this remedy should be applied to prevent the formation of chronic ulcers.
Treats all kinds of malignant sores and early-stage scrofula (tuberculous lymphadenitis) that have begun to break. Although complete resolution may not occur immediately, it effectively neutralizes the toxin.

Take one dou three sheng of Buckwheat Husk Ash or genuine Charcoal Ash. Leach with water to obtain eight or nine bowls of ash lye. Decoct using Chestnut wood or Mulberry wood branches over mild to strong fire until reduced to three bowls. Add more liquid as needed if the mixture dries out. Take two bowls and place in a porcelain vessel. Grind the aforementioned herbs into an extremely fine powder and mix into the ash lye. Stir continuously in one direction using an iron spoon or willow branch. Then add one sheng of high-quality Calcined Gypsum (Duan Shi). Stir thoroughly again. Let stand overnight, then divide into small porcelain containers for storage. Whenever encountering various swellings and pain, dab one or two points at the center of the swelling. Change twice a day, and once again the next day. It is ideal if blood and fluid are discharged. If the medicine dries, add a little of the reserved ash lye to adjust consistency.
