These three conditions all occur within the ear orifice. The *Erzhi* (Ear Polyp) resembles a cherry, and some resemble goat's milk; the *Erjun* (Ear Fungus) resembles a mushroom, with a large head and a small stalk; the *Erting* (Ear Growth) resembles the skin of a jujube that has broken open, and occasional contact causes pain radiating to the vertex of the head. Internally, *Jiawei Xiaoyao San* (Modified Free and Easy Wanderer Powder) is used for all cases; for severe cases, *Longdan Xiegan Tang* (Gentian Liver-Draining Decoction) is employed. Externally, *Jishi Bai* (White Part of Chicken Droppings) is stir-fried, ground into powder, and applied as a dressing, or *Huangbai San* (Yellow and White Powder) is dabbed on to gradually resolve the lesion. Another method involves dripping Huojiu (Fire Wine) into the ear; after lying supine for half an hour, it can be removed with forceps.
Those growing in the hidden recesses of the ear orifice are black in color and resemble peppercorn seeds. The pain is like needle insertion, radiating to the cheeks and brain, and upon rupture, blood and serum flow out. Urgently administer *Duoming Tang* (Life-Snatching Decoction). Externally, grind Chan Su (Toad Venom) and Xionghuang (Realgar) in equal parts into fine powder, mix with water to form a thick liquid, and drip into the ear.
When there is no pus or swelling in the ear, only dry pain, itching, discharge of fluid, chronic non-healing over years, or recurrence after sexual intercourse occurs, these are all caused by deficient fire in the Liver and Kidney. *Jiajian Bawei Wan* (Modified Eight-Ingredient Pill) is the primary treatment.
Tinnitus refers to sounds heard within the ear, which may resemble cicada chirping, bell ringing, burning, flowing water, or the sound of winnowing rice. Or, sounds are heard only within the orifice during sleep. If external sounds enter but are muddled by internal sounds, resulting in unclear hearing, *Sheyin Jian* (Yin-Nourishing Decoction) is administered; for those with weak Spleen and Stomach, *Buzhong Yiqi Tang* (Tonify the Middle and Augment the Qi Decoction) is taken concurrently.
1. Tinnitus caused by anger results from rebellious Qi in the Triple Burner, treated with *Xiao Chaihu Tang* (Minor Bupleurum Decoction) plus Dang Gui (Angelica Sinensis), Chuanxiong (Ligusticum), and Shanzhiren (Gardenia Seed).
