Chronic hemorrhoids arise from the long-term accumulation of wind, deficiency-heat, and toxic pathogens in the zang-fu organs, which flow into and lodge in the Large Intestine, thereby causing this disease. If accompanied by a deficiency-cold and exhaustion of the Lower Yuan (Kidney and Mingmen), and laborious injury to the Kidneys, the condition worsens.
Treatment for Dry-Damp Hemorrhoids: Hemorrhoids can be categorized as male or female types. Some present with swelling and pain, some are associated with Wind, some resemble mouse teats with attached nodules, and some cause itching and pain within the intestines. If left untreated for a long time, all can lead to severe consequences.
Huai Zi Ren (Koelreuteriae Fructus, 2 liang, lightly stir-fried) Gan Qi (Cannabis Resin, 1 liang, crushed and stir-fried until smoke emerges) Qin Jiao (Gentianae Macrophyllae Radix, 0.5 liang, remove seedlings) Huang Qin (Scutellariae Radix, 0.5 liang) Bai Lian (Broussonetiae Cortex, 0.5 liang) Mu Xiang (Aucklandiae Radix, 0.5 liang) Pill Excipient (0.5 liang) Bai Zhi (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix, 0.5 liang) Gui Bai Pi (Cinnamomi Cortex Albus, 1 liang, sliced)
The above herbs are crushed, sieved into powder, mixed with refined honey, and pounded 500–700 times until uniform. Form pills the size of paulownia seeds. Take 30 pills before meals, washed down with millet gruel.
Zhu Sha Wan Formula for Chronic Hemorrhoids with Heads, Pain, Ulceration, and Continuous Pus:
Zhu Sha (Cinnabar, 3 fen, finely ground) Pi Shuang (Arsenic Trioxide, 0.5 fen) Ba Dou (Crotonis Fructus, 1 liang, skin and heart removed, ground and pressed between paper to remove oil) She Xiang (Moschus, 1 fen, finely ground) Ru Xiang (Olibanum, 1 fen, finely ground) A Wei (Ferulae Resina, 1 fen, wrapped in flour and baked until flour is cooked) An Xi Xiang (Pistaciae Resina, 1 fen)
The above herbs are crushed, sieved into powder, and mixed with steamed dough soaked in hot water. Form pills the size of mung beans. Take one pill daily on an empty stomach, washed down with Zhi Qiao decoction. It should heal within ten days.
Xiao Huai Zi Wan Formula for Cold Accumulation in the Large Intestine and Chronic Hemorrhoids:
Huai Zi Ren (Koelreuteriae Fructus, 3 liang, lightly stir-fried) Long Gu (Fossilized Mammal Bones, 1 liang) Bai Fan (Alumen, 2 liang, calcined until liquid evaporates) Liu Huang (Sulfur, 1 liang, finely ground) Zhi Shi (Immature Bitter Orange Fruit, 2 liang, bran-stir-fried until slightly yellow) Gan Qi (Cannabis Resin, 1 liang, crushed and stir-fried until smoke emerges) Sang Mu Er (Mulberry Tremella, 1 liang, lightly stir-fried)
The above herbs are crushed, sieved into powder, mixed with refined honey, and pounded 300–200 times. Form pills the size of paulownia seeds.
Take 20 pills before meals, washed down with millet gruel.
Bai Fan San Formula for Chronic Hemorrhoids, Wind-Cold in Stomach and Intestines, and Incessant Pus and Blood:
Bai Fan (Alumen, 1 liang) Liu Huang (Sulfur, 1 liang, ground) Ru Xiang (Olibanum, 1 liang, ground) Huang Lian (Coptidis Rhizome, 1 liang, remove stamens and grind) Huang La (Beeswax, 1 fen)
Take one large crucian carp, do not remove scales, remove internal organs, and insert the powdered herbs inside. Wrap in wet paper, bind with hemp rope, and seal with salt mud. Bake in ash fire until cooked, then roast slowly over low heat until charred. Grind finely and sieve into powder. Take 2 qian before meals, mixed with millet gruel.
Formula for Hemorrhoids with Heads Unhealed for Years:
Mian Li Yu Tou (Head of Moray Eel, 1 liang, roasted until yellow) Mu Xiang (Aucklandiae Radix, 1 liang) She Xiang (Moschus, 1 fen, finely ground) Pi Shuang (Arsenic Trioxide, 1 fen, finely ground) Fen Jiao (Calcium Carbonate Deposit, 1 liang, finely ground) Bai Fan (Alumen, 1 liang, calcined until liquid evaporates) Zhu Ya Zao Jia (Gleditsiae Sinensis Spine, 3 fen, roasted until yellow and charred)
The above herbs are crushed, sieved into powder, and mixed with refined honey and beeswax. Form pills the size of lotus seeds. Wrap one pill in cotton and insert into the anus. When abdominal movement is felt, endure it; when unbearable, squat on the basin to expel foul matter. Use daily until the hemorrhoid head subsides.
Huang [Missing Herb] Gao Formula for Chronic Hemorrhoids and Parasites:
Huang [Missing Herb] (1.5 liang, sliced) Lou Lu (Euphorbiae Humifusae Herba, 1.5 liang) Huang Bo (Phellodendri Cortex, 1.5 liang, sliced) Huai Zi Ren (Koelreuteriae Fructus, 1.5 liang) Mu Tong (Akebiae Caulis, 1.5 liang, sliced) Ku Shen (Sophorae Flavescentis Radix, 1.5 liang, sliced) Li Gu (Fox Bone, 2-3 liang, ground to powder) Xiong Huang (Realgar, 3 fen, finely ground) Hu Gu (Tiger Bone, 3 liang, ground to powder) Liu Huang (Sulfur, 1 liang)
Add three jin of lard from the twelfth lunar month. Decoct the herbs for twenty boils, strain through cloth, boil again briefly, and filter through silk. Store in a porcelain jar. Add Xiong Huang etc., mix well. Apply to the lesion via an old cloth patch, changing three times daily. Healing occurs when parasites exit.
Wu She Gao Formula for Chronic Hemorrhoids with Fissures, Heads, Pus, Blood, and Unbearable Itching/Pain:

Grind all herbs to extreme fineness. First melt the pig fat, filter out dregs, add herbs, and decoct for thirty to twenty boils. Before it becomes a paste, add She Xiang (Moschus) and mix well.
Huai Zhi Jiu Formula for Hemorrhoids Unhealed for Years:
Huai Zhi Ye Ye (Locust Branches and Leaves, 2 dou, finely ground) Huai Zi Ren (Koelreuteriae Fructus, 2 sheng, crushed) Cang Er Jing Ye (Xanthii Stem and Leaf, 1 dou, finely sliced)
Place herbs in a pot, add one shuo of water, boil down to five dou. Strain and clarify. Check temperature, add five jin of Qu powder and five dou of glutinous rice. Steam until cooked, mix thoroughly, and place in a jar. Cover according to method. Once wine is ready, drink warm at will, keeping slightly intoxicated. Long-term use yields miraculous effects.
Bai Fan Wan Formula for Chronic Hemorrhoids with Swelling, Hardness, and Pain in the Lower Part:
Bai Fan (Alumen, 0.5 liang, calcined until liquid evaporates) Fu Zi (Prepared Aconite Root, 1 liang, processed, skin and navel removed) Sang Huang (Inonotus Obliquus, 1 liang, sliced and lightly stir-fried)
Crush and sieve into powder. Soak steamed dough in warm water, mix to form pills the size of paulownia seeds. Take 15 pills before meals, washed down with millet gruel; increase to 20 pills if necessary.
Another Formula:
Xi Mo (Fine Ink Stick, 2 liang) Gan Jiang (Dried Ginger, 1-2 liang, processed and sliced)
Crush and sieve into powder. Mix with soft rice to form pills the size of paulownia seeds. Take 20 pills before meals, washed down with Huang [Missing Herb] and Zhi Qiao decoction. Heal when cured.
Another Formula:
Bai Fan (Alumen, 2 liang, calcined until liquid evaporates) Huang Fan (Yellow Alum, 3 liang, calcined until red) Fu Zi (Prepared Aconite Root, 2 liang, processed, skin and navel removed)
Crush and sieve into powder. Mix with soft rice to form pills the size of paulownia seeds. Take 10 pills before meals, washed down with millet gruel.
Wen (Hot Compress) Formula for Hemorrhoids with Heads, Unhealed for Years, Frequent Pain, and Inability to Sit or Stand:
Chou Huang (Stinkstone, 1 fen) Suan Shi Liu Pi (Acid Pomegranate Peel, 1 fen) Zao Jia (Gleditsiae Sinensis Fruit, 1 fen) Mang Cao (Asari Folium, 1 fen) Xing Ren (Apricot Seed, 1-2 fen, soaked in hot water, skin and tip removed) Li Lu (Veratrum Nigrum Root, 1 fen, remove rhizome) Liu [Xie] (Willow [Shavings/Dust], 3 fen)
Crush and sieve into powder. Mix with oil, stir-fry until hot, wrap in cotton, and apply as a hot compress to the hemorrhoids. Do this five to seven times daily until healed.
Shen Yan Xun Yao Formula for Chronic Hemorrhoids Unhealed for Years:
Mian Li Yu (Moray Eel, 0.5 jin, collected on May 5th, dried and ground to powder) Qiang Lang (Dung Beetle, 3 pieces, ground to powder)
Mix mature mugwort moxa with the herb powder. Roll in green cloth, place in a porcelain bottle, ignite, and sit over the bottle to fumigate. Parasites and foul fluids will discharge, preventing recurrence.
