The condition of delirious speech caused by blood pathogen attacking the heart arises from the deficiency of all internal organs after childbirth. The failed blood (lochia/stasis) surges and rushes upward, allowing the pathogen to invade the heart. The heart cannot withstand this disturbance, leading to the steaming and intermingling of Qi and Blood, where Qi clashes and stagnates in the chest.
To treat delirious speech after childbirth, which is due to internal deficiency and the attack of blood pathogen Qi on the heart, use Baizi Ren San (Cunflower Seed Powder).
Bai Zi Ren (Biota Seed), Yuan Zhi (Polygala Root, remove the heart), Ren Shen (Ginseng Root, remove the rhizome), Sang Ji Sheng (Taxillus Branch), Fang Feng (Saposhnikovia Root, remove the rhizome), Hu Po (Amber, finely ground), Dang Gui (Angelica Sinensis Root, sliced and slightly stir-fried).
Grind the above herbs into a powder. For each dose, take five qian, add one sliced white sheep heart to one large cup of water, decoct until three-tenths remains, remove the dregs and the heart, then add five qian of the herb powder and decoct further.
For blood pathogen attacking the heart after childbirth, causing mental confusion, inappropriate speech, and restless sleep, use Fushen San (Poria with Hostwood Powder).
Fu Shen (Poria with Hostwood, one liang), Ren Shen (Ginseng Root, remove the rhizome), Long Chi (Dragon Teeth), Hu Po (Amber), Chi Shao Yao (Red Peony Root), Huang Qi (Astragalus Root, sliced), Niu Xi (Achyranthes Root, remove the sprouts, each three qian).
Grind the above herbs into a powder. For each dose, take three qian, add one medium cup of water, decoct until two-thirds remains, remove the dregs, and take warm at any time.
For postpartile delirium and hallucinations (seeing spirits/gods), indicating constitutional weakness and insufficient Heart Qi attacked by blood pathogen, use Yang Shen Tang (Sheep Kidney Decoction).
Yang Shen (Sheep Kidney, one pair, sliced and remove the fat membrane), Yuan Zhi (Polygala Root, three qian, remove the heart), Bai Shao Yao (White Peony Root, three qian), Shu Di Huang (Prepared Rehmannia Root, one liang), Huang Qi (Astragalus Root, sliced), Bai Fu Ling (Poria, half liang).
Grind the above herbs into a powder. For each dose, add one large cup of water, first decoct the sheep kidney until three-tenths remains, remove the kidney, add five qian of the herb powder, decoct until four-tenths remains, remove the dregs, and take warm at any time.
For blood pathogen attacking the heart after childbirth, causing excessive speech, restlessness, and discomfort, use She Xiang San (Musk Powder).
She Xiang (Musk), Niu Huang (Calculus Bovis), Xiong Huang (Realgar), Zhu Sha (Cinnabar), Long Nao (Borneol), Qi Lin Jie (Dragon's Blood).
Finely grind all the above herbs into a powder. Take one qian mixed with Dou Lin Jiu (Soybean Dripping Wine) at any time.
For blood pathogen attacking the heart after childbirth, causing coma, confusion, and disordered speech, use Hu Po San (Amber Powder).
Hu Po (Amber, one liang, finely ground), Ren Shen (Ginseng Root, three qian, remove the rhizome), Yuan Zhi (Polygala Root, three qian, remove the heart), Fu Shen (Poria with Hostwood, three qian), Sheng Gan Di Huang (Dried Rehmannia Root, three qian). [Note: Original text contains fragmented characters "A" and "Xiang", omitted for accuracy as per instructions].
Grind the above herbs into a fine powder, mix evenly with the ground ingredients. Take one qian mixed with Jin Yin Tang (Gold and Silver Decoction) at any time.
For blood pathogen rushing to the heart after childbirth, causing inability to speak and mental confusion, use Jin Wu San (Golden Crow Powder).
Wu Ya (Crow, one liang, burnt to ash), She Xiang (Musk, half liang), Hu Fen (Tiger Excrement, one liang, burnt to ash).
Grind the above together until fine. Take one qian mixed with Tong Zi Xiao Bian (Boy's Urine) at any time.
For postpartum weakness with blood pathogen attacking the heart, causing delirium or hallucinations, tie Tie Fen Wan (Iron Powder Pills).
Tie Fen (Iron Powder, one liang), Tian Zhu Huang (Bamboo Mucus), Zhen Zhu Mo (Pearl Powder, half liang), She Huang (Hematite), Niu Huang (Calculus Bovis, one fen), Zhu Sha (Cinnabar, one fen), She Xiang (Musk).
Grind all ingredients until fine like flour. Mix with millet rice paste to form pills the size of sophora seeds. Take five pills with Zhu Ye Tang (Bamboo Leaf Decoction) at any time.
For blood pathogen attacking the heart after childbirth, causing coma, Qi deficiency, and organ weakness, leading to symptoms resembling mania, constant fear, crying, laughing, startling, or terror:
Guang Ming Zhu Sha (Luminous Cinnabar, two liang), Bai Fan (Alum, two liang), Jin Bo (Gold Foil, fifty pieces).
Grind the cinnabar and alum, place them in a porcelain bottle, seal it tightly, and steam over a steamer twice daily for half a month. Then take out and mix with the gold foil.
For blood pathogen Qi attacking the heart after childbirth, manifesting as hallucinations, wind-like symptoms, indeterminate delirium, stabbing pain, and abdominal distension, use She Xiang San (Musk Powder).
She Xiang (Musk, one qian, finely ground), Wu Lv Ti Hu Gan (Donkey Hoof, one liang, burnt to ash), Luan Fa (Human Hair, two liang, burnt to ash), Gan Xi (Dry Resin of Toxicodendron, one liang, crushed and stir-fried until smoke appears).
Grind the above into a fine powder, mix evenly with the finely ground musk. Take one qian mixed with warm wine at any time.
For blood pathogen attacking the heart after childbirth, causing mental confusion and manic behavior, use Qi Lin Jie San (Dragon's Blood Powder).
Qi Lin Jie (Dragon's Blood, one fen), Pu Huang (Typha Pollen, three qian).
Mix and grind the above until fine. Take two qian mixed with warm wine at any time.
For blood pathogen attacking the heart, causing mania and inability to recognize people, use this formula:
Chi Ma Ti (Red Horse Hoof, stir-fried until scorched yellow), Bai Jiang Can (White Silkworm, slightly stir-fried, each one liang).
Grind the above into a fine powder. Take one qian mixed with Ku Shen Tang (Sophora Root Decoction) at any time.
Another formula:
Yan Hu Suo (Corydalis Rhizome, half liang), Gou Dan (Dog Gallbladder, one fen, dried), Hu Po (Amber, half liang).
Grind the above into a fine powder. Take one qian mixed with warm wine at any time. Taking with urine is also acceptable.
