Infantile vomiting and diarrhea (emesis and dysentery) occur due to intestinal deficiency and rebellious Stomach Qi (rebellious energy of the stomach). When infants are weaned, if wind-cold pathogens enter the intestines and stomach, it leads to diarrhea; rebellious Stomach Qi leads to vomiting.
For treating infantile vomiting and diarrhea accompanied by fever and reluctance to nurse or eat, use the Ren Shen San (Ginseng Powder) formula.
Ren Shen (Panax ginseng Radix et Rhizoma, half liang, remove the rhizome head) Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix, one fen, stir-bake until slightly red and chop) Huang Qin (Scutellariae Radix, two fen) Gan Jiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma, two fen, stir-fry until cracked and chop) Gui Xin (Cinnamomi Ramulus, one fen)
The above herbs are crushed, sifted into a powder. Take one qian per dose, add one small cup of water and one jujube. Decoct until five parts remain, strain, and remove dregs. Take warm at any time. Adjust dosage according to the child's age and size.
For treating infantile vomiting and diarrhea accompanied by empty oppression in the abdomen and hypochondrium, use the He Li Le San (Chebulae Fructus Powder) formula.
He Li Le Pi (Terminalia chebula Pericarpium, half liang) Ren Shen (Panax ginseng Radix et Rhizoma, half liang, remove the rhizome head) Bai Zhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma, half liang) Gui Xin (Cinnamomi Ramulus, one fen) Hou Po (Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex, half liang, remove rough bark, coat with fresh ginger juice)
