In febrile diseases (exogenous febrile diseases caused by pathogenic heat), there is heat in the stomach, leading to disharmony of the Qi of grain and food. When new food enters and contends with the pathogenic heat, the Stomach Qi becomes unbalanced, resulting in vomiting and hiccuping. Alternatively, after vomiting or purging, the Qi of the Zang-Fu organs becomes deficient, which also causes vomiting and hiccuping.
For the treatment of febrile diseases presenting with aversion to cold and high fever, where vomiting and hiccuping occur after eating, Qianhu Yinzi Formula (Peucedani Radix Decoction) is appropriate.
Peucedani Radix (Qianhu, 2 liang, remove the rhizome head) Ophiopogonis Radix (Maidong, 2 liang, remove the heart) Bamboo Shavings (Zhuru, 3 liang) Aged Tangerine Peel (Chenpi, 1 liang, soak in hot water, remove the white pith, and dry over fire) Licorice Root (Gancao, 1 liang, honey-fry until slightly red and cut into pieces) Fresh Rehmannia Root (Shengdihuang, 2 liang) Kudzu Root (Gegen, 2 liang) Loquat Leaf (Pipaye, 1 liang, wipe off hairs, fry until slightly yellow)
All the above herbs are finely chopped and mixed evenly. Take 0.5 liang per dose. Add one large cup of water, decoct until five parts remain, filter out the dregs. Take warm at any time.
For the treatment of febrile diseases presenting with high fever, vomiting, hiccuping, and inability to eat, Renshen Yinzi Formula (Ginseng Decoction) is appropriate.
Ginseng Root (Renshen, 1 liang, remove the rhizome head) Aged Tangerine Peel (Chenpi, 1 liang, soak in hot water, remove the white pith, and dry over fire) Fresh Ginger (Shengjiang, 2 liang) Red Poria (Chifuling, 1 liang) Kudzu Root (Gegen, 1 liang) Ophiopogonis Radix (Maidong, 1 liang, remove the white part)
All the above herbs are finely chopped and mixed evenly. Take 0.5 liang per dose. Add one large cup of water, decoct until five parts remain, filter out the dregs. Take warm at any time.
For the treatment of febrile diseases presenting with high fever, aversion to cold, and vomiting/hiccuping after eating, Maidong San Formula (Ophiopogonis Powder) is appropriate.

The above herbs are crushed, sifted, and made into a powder. Take 4 qian per dose. Add one medium cup of water and bamboo shavings equivalent to half an egg, decoct until six parts remain, filter out the dregs. Take warm at any time.
