In the late spring and early summer, dogs often become rabid and maliciously bite people. At this time, one must use sticks for prevention. If bitten despite precautions, moxibustion should be applied to the wound. Within a hundred days, as long as the moxibustion is not interrupted even for one day, disaster can be avoided. If the wound appears healed and pain subsides initially, and the patient claims to have recovered, disaster will inevitably occur, with death imminent.
The following are prescriptions for treating dog bites:
Prescription 1: Roast apricot kernels until black, grind into a paste, and apply to the wound.
Prescription 2: Mix plant ash with boiling water, and apply the mixture to the wound; this is effective.
Prescription 3: Apply hot cow dung to the wound; this is excellent.
Prescription 4: Mix vinegar with calcined mineral medicine (Duan Shi) and apply to the wound.
Prescription 5: Grind rat feces into powder, mix with lard from the twelfth lunar month, and apply to the wound.
Prescription 6: Take earthworms (Di Long), crush them thoroughly, and apply to the bitten area; hair may grow out. Alternatively, collect dried earthworms, grind into powder, mix with oil, and apply.
Prescription 7: Burn tiger flesh to ash, mix with vinegar, and apply.
Prescription 8: Take fresh ginger, heat it by roasting, and apply heat compresses to the wound; this is very good.

Another prescription:
Apply fire moxibustion to the swollen part of the wound. Crush Chinese chive roots to extract juice, drink three he, take four or five doses. Stop when the wound heals.
Another prescription:
Apply earthworm feces to seal the wound; expulsion of dog hair occurs, which is miraculous.
Generally, if a dog bites a person, the wound flares up every seven days. If no flare-up occurs after three sevens (twenty-one days), disaster is avoided. If no flare-up occurs after one hundred days, it is considered cured. During each seven-day cycle...
