The Kidney governs the waist and lower limbs. When the Kidney meridian is deficient, it is susceptible to invasion by Wind-Cold pathogens. Accumulated water remains within, and Wind-Water pathogens mutually infiltrate the Kidney Qi, causing the Kidney Qi to stagnate internally and fail to circulate freely, thus giving rise to disease.
To treat Renzhuo (Kidney-Attaching Disease): The body feels cold, with pain and heaviness from the waist downward. It is appropriate to take Gancao San (Licorice Powder).
Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae Preparata), 1 liang, roasted until slightly red and chopped; Ganjiang (Rhizoma Zingiberis Preparatum), 1 liang, processed until cracked and chopped; Baizhu (Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae), 3 liang; Bai Fuling (Poria), 3 liang; Danggui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis), 2 liang.
The above herbs are coarsely ground and sieved to make a powder. Each dose is 4 qian. Add 1 zhong of water, decoct until reduced to 6 fen, remove the dregs, and take warm before meals.
To treat Renzhuo lumbar pain accompanied by impairment of movement in the legs and knees, it is appropriate to take Guixin San (Cinnamon Heart Powder).
Guixin (Lignum Cinnamomi), 1.5 liang; Baizhu (Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae), 2 liang; Chi Fuling (Poria cum Rubro), 2 liang; Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae Preparata), 1 liang, roasted until slightly red and chopped; Zexie (Rhizoma Alismatis), 1 liang; Niuxi (Radix Achyranthis Bidentatae), 1 liang, with sprouts removed.

To treat Renzhuo lumbar pain, as well as stagnant Cold-Qi in the Bladder, with difficulty in discharging pus and fluid, leading to impaired movement of the waist and knees, it is appropriate to take Niuxi San (Achyranthes Powder).

The above herbs are finely ground and sieved to make a powder. Each dose is 4 qian. Add 1 zhong of water, decoct until reduced to 5 fen, then add 2 he of wine, boil for two or three boils, and remove the dregs.
To treat Renzhuo lumbar pain and Bladder conditions where Qi is obstructed and fails to circulate freely, resulting in heaviness in the legs and knees, this formula is appropriate.
