The Kidney is the residence of Shen (Spirit) and Jing (Essence), and the root where Yuan Qi (Original Qi) is attached. If its Qi is strong and substantial, the Marrow will be full and overflowing, thereby making the flesh and body robust and vigorous.

For treating Kidney deficiency and damage manifesting as dizziness, tinnitus, blurred vision, forgetfulness, mental restlessness, loss of taste in food, and chronic dissatisfaction:
Dendrobii Caulis (Shihu, 石斛) [1 liang, remove roots, cut into pieces], Asparagi Radix (Tianmendong, 天门冬) [0.5 liang, remove heart, dry-roasted], Schisandrae Fructus (Wuweizi, 五味子) [3 fen], Morindae Officinalis Radix (Bajitian, 巴戟天) [0.5 liang], Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix (Niuxi, 牛膝) [1 liang, remove sprouts], Bletillae Rhizoma (Sanbaicao, 三白草) [0.5 liang], Dioscoreae Hypoglaucae Rhizoma (Bixie, 萆薢) [3 fen, cut into pieces], Cibotii Rhizoma (Gouji, 狗脊), Pyracanthae Folium (Shinannan, 石南藤), Eucommiae Cortex (Duzhong, 杜zhong) [2 fen, remove coarse bark, stir-bake until slightly yellow, cut into pieces], Aconiti Lateralis Radix Preparata (Tianxiong, 天雄) [3 fen, processed until cracked, remove skin].
Crush and sieve the above ingredients into powder. Mix with refined honey and pound for three to five hundred strokes. Form pills the size of paulownia seeds. Take thirty pills each time, on an empty stomach and before evening meal, with warm wine. Gradually increase to fifty pills.

For treating Kidney Qi deficiency and damage manifesting as skeletal atrophy, emaciation, tinnitus, irritability, urgency and pain in the lower abdomen, sensation of Qi drawing towards the Bladder, accompanied by pain in the waist and knees, and anorexia:
Magnetitum (Cishi, 磁石) [2 liang, calcined and quenched in vinegar seven times, finely ground, washed with water], Cistronis Herba (Roucongrong, 肉苁蓉) [2 liang, soaked in wine overnight, scrape off wrinkled skin, dry-roasted], Spathulae Halloysitum (Zhongrufen, 钟乳粉) [2 liang], Eucommiae Cortex (Duzhong, 杜仲) [1 liang, remove coarse bark, stir-bake until slightly yellow, cut into pieces], Schisandrae Fructus (Wuweizi, 五味子) [0.5 liang, soaked in wine for three days, sun-dried, pounded separately], Alismatis Rhizoma (Zexie, 泽泻) [3 liang], Genkwa Flos (Yanhua, 芫花) [3 liang, crushed, lightly stir-fried].
Crush and sieve the above ingredients into powder. Mix with refined honey and pound for three to two hundred strokes. Form pills the size of paulownia seeds. Take thirty pills each time, on an empty stomach and before evening meal, with warm wine. Gradually increase to fifty pills.

For treating Kidney Qi deficiency and damage manifesting as emaciation, inability of diet to nourish the flesh, skeletal atrophy and weakness, and waist pain; suitable for taking formulas that tonify warmth and replenish Qi strength to make the body robust:
Pyritum (Zishiyingshi, 紫石英) [1 liang, finely ground, washed with water], Cistronis Herba (Roucongrong, 肉苁蓉) [2 liang, soaked in wine overnight, cut into pieces, scrape off wrinkled skin, dry-roasted], Quartinum (Bai shiyingshi, 白石英) [1 liang, finely ground, washed with water], Cuscutae Semen (Tusizi, 菟丝子) [1 liang, soaked in wine, sun-dried], Dry Rehmanniae Radix (Shengdihuang, 干地黄) [2 liang], Aconiti Lateralis Radix Preparata (Fuzi, 附子) [1 piece, processed until cracked, remove skin and navel], Cinnamomi Ramulus (Guixin, 桂心) [1 liang], Alismatis Rhizoma (Zexie, 泽泻) [1 liang], Dioscoreae Rhizoma (Shuyu, 薯蓣) [1 liang], Corni Fructus (Shanzhuyu, 山茱萸) [1 liang], Zizyphi Spina (Jici, 棘刺) [1 liang].

For treating Kidney deficiency and damage manifesting as emaciated flesh and body, skeletal atrophy and weakness, soreness and pain in the waist and legs, and turbid urine; it is suitable to take Shu Dihuang Wan (Prepared Rehmannia Pill):
Prepared Rehmanniae Radix (Shudihuang, 熟干地黄) [2 liang], Corni Fructus (Shanzhuyu, 山茱萸) [1 liang], Dioscoreae Rhizoma (Shuyu, 薯蓣) [1 liang], Poria (Baifuling, 白茯苓) [1 liang], Dendrobii Caulis (Shihu, 石斛) [1 liang, remove roots], Cinnamomi Ramulus (Guixin, 桂心) [1 liang], Alismatis Rhizoma (Zexie, 泽泻) [1 liang, crushed and stir-fried until yellow and dry].

Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix (Niuxi, 牛膝) [1.5 liang, remove sprouts], Platycodoni Semen (Baiziren, 柏子仁) [3 fen], Cinnamomi Ramulus (Guixin, 桂心) [1 liang], Poria (Baifuling, 白茯苓) [3 fen], Quartinum (Bai shiyingshi, 白石英) [1 liang, finely ground, washed with water], Saposhnikoviae Radix (Fangfeng, 防风) [1 liang, remove rhizome head], Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma (Chuanxiong, 川芎) [3 fen], Dendrobii Caulis (Shihu, 石斛) [1 liang], Psoraleae Fructus (Buguzhi, 补骨脂) [1 liang].
