The Heart stores the Shen (Spirit) and generates blood vessels. In cases of deficiency consumptive disease, damage to the blood vessels occurs, leading to a deficiency of Heart Qi. Consequently, pathogenic factors take advantage of this weakness, resulting in fright palpitations.

For treating fright palpitations due to deficiency consumptive disease, accompanied by an unsettled Shen, the Ginseng Powder (Renshen San) is indicated.
Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma (Renshen, 30g, remove rhizome) Paeoniae Radix Alba (Baishao, 9g) Cinnamomi Cortex (Guixin, 9g) Astragali Radix (Huangqi, 60g, sliced) Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Gancao, 15g, honey-fried until slightly reddish) [Note: Original text contains "Xie", likely a textual error for Huangqi or similar; translated as per context of tonifying Qi] Semen Ziziphi Spinosae (Suanzaoren, 30g, lightly stir-fried)
Crush the above herbs into a coarse powder. Take 9g per dose. Add 240ml of water, decoct until reduced to 144ml. Remove the dregs. Take warm at any time.

For treating fright palpitations due to deficiency consumptive disease, with rebellious Qi in the chest causing insomnia, the Sour Jujube Seed Powder (Suanzaoren San) is indicated.

For treating deficiency consumptive disease characterized by fright palpitations, restlessness, vexation and fullness in the heart and diaphragm, and loss of appetite, the Astragalus Pill (Huangqi Wan) is indicated.

For treating fright palpitations caused by wind-pathogens in deficiency consumptive disease, unstable Heart Qi, reduced food intake, emaciated limbs, and weakness, the Dragon Teeth Pill (Longchi Wan) is indicated.

For treating fright palpitations due to deficiency consumptive disease and unstable Heart Qi, the Cinnabar Pill (Dansha Wan) is indicated.

For treating deficiency consumptive disease, stopping fright palpitations, and restoring appetite, the Purple Quartz Decoction (Zhiyanshi Tang) is indicated.
Purple Quartz (Zhiyanshi, 150g, crushed like rice or bean grains, rinsed once with large amounts of water)
Add 2400ml of water to the above herb. Boil until reduced to 480ml. Remove the dregs and clarify. Take warm slowly. It may also be used to cook soup or porridge. After finishing one dose, it can be decocted again.
