For scorpion stings, during the months of May and June when the venom is most potent, there are said to be varieties with eight or nine segments, possessing even more intense toxic qi. After being stung by a scorpion, the toxic influence spreads, causing pain that radiates throughout all four limbs, which only begins to subside after one shichen (approximately two hours).
Prescription for treating scorpion stings:
Lilü (Veratrum Rhizoma, processed by removing the rhizome head), Zhuya Zaojiao (Gleditsia Sinensis Fruit), Mu Dingxiang (Caryophylli Flos), Shexiang (Moschus), Shuihuihua Rui (Malvae Flower Bud), Bibo (Piperis Longi Fructus) (all in equal parts).
Crush and sieve the above ingredients into powder. If stung on the left side, blow a dose equivalent to one grain of rice into the right nostril; if stung on the right side, blow it into the left nostril.
Another prescription:
Bibo (Piperis Longi Fructus), Nifen (Calomel), Ruiren (Pruni Armeniaci Semen), Muguanzi (Momordicae Cochinchinensis Semen) (all in equal parts).
On the noon hour of the fifth day of the fifth lunar month, face south and crush/sieve the ingredients into powder. During preparation, ensure no women or mourners witness the process. If stung on the right side, apply a small amount to the left eye; if stung on the left side, apply to the right eye.
Another prescription:
Nifen (Calomel, 1 qian), Xiangmo (Scented Ink, a small amount), Bibo (Piperis Longi Fructus, a small amount).
Grind the above ingredients finely and sieve into a powder. Use an amount the size of half a wheat grain, applying it to the outer canthus of the eye. For males, apply to the left eye; for females, to the right eye. The pain will cease immediately.
Another prescription:
Xionghuang (Realgar, 0.5 liang), Baijian (Alumen, calcined to ash, 0.5 liang).
Finely grind the above ingredients, add melted beeswax, and mix uniformly. Allow to cool, then roll into pills the size of a bullet, storing them wrapped in wax paper. If someone is stung, heat the pill over fire and apply as a hot compress to the painful area. When cold, reheat and compress again. No more than three applications are needed for recovery. This medicine is suitable for all ages and can be stored for long-term use.
Another prescription:
Hutou Gu (Tigris Ossis, roasted), Banlanzi (likely referring to a specific seed or fruit, contextually grouped here), Bibo (Piperis Longi Fructus) (all in 1 fen proportion).
On the noon hour of the fifth day of the fifth lunar month, crush and sieve the ingredients into powder. Dip a rush light into the powder and apply a small amount to the outer canthus of the eye. For males, apply to the left eye; for females, to the right eye. The effect is miraculous.
