Yin swelling (swelling of the genitalia) arises from wind-heat pathogenic factors invading the Kidney Meridian and flowing into the yin region. Due to Kidney deficiency, the ability to circulate and disperse is impaired, resulting in swelling.
For treating Yin swelling that does not subside, accompanied by intermittent pain, use the Chenxiang San (Agarwood Powder) Formula.
Chenxiang (Aquilariae Lignum Resinatum, 3 fen), Binglang (Arecae Semen, 1 liang), Danshen (Salviae Miltiorrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, 3 fen), Chishao Yao (Paeoniae Radix Rubra, 3 fen), Baijili (Tribuli Fructus, 3 fen, lightly stir-fried and thorns removed), Zhike (Aurantii Fructus Immaturus, 3 fen).
The above herbs are coarsely ground and sieved to make a powder. Take 3 qian per dose, decoct with one zhong of water until reduced to 6 fen, strain, and take warm before meals.
For treating Yin swelling where Qi attacks and injects up and down, causing distension and fullness, use the Muxiang San (Costus Root Powder) Formula.
Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix, 0.5 liang), Chi Fuling (Poria Cocos cum Ligno Rubrum, 1 liang), Mudan Pi (Moutan Cortex, 3 fen), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix, 0.5 liang, radix removed), Binglang (Arecae Semen, 1 liang), Zexie (Alismatis Rhizoma, 3 fen).
The above herbs are finely ground and sieved to make a powder. Take 1 or 2 qian per dose before meals, mixed with warm wine.
For treating severe Yin swelling and pain that is unbearable, use the Qin Yu Fang (Bath Soaking Formula).
Xionghuang (Realgar, 2 liang, finely ground), Baifan (Alumen, 2 liang), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, 3 chi, cut into pieces).
The above herbs are boiled in one dou of water until three sheng of liquid remain. Bathe while slightly warm.
For treating severe Yin swelling with fullness, apply the Jishi Fan San (Chicken Dropping Alum Powder) externally.
Jishi Fan (Collyrium, 3 fen), Huo Jian Cha (Fire-roasted Tea, 3 fen), Longya Cao (Agrimoniae Herba, 3 fen).
The above herbs are finely ground and sieved to make a powder. Mix with egg white and apply to the swollen area, changing twice daily.
For treating Yin swelling as large as a sheng (a large measure):
Burn chicken wings to ash, grind finely. Take 2 qian before meals, mixed with rice broth. If the left side is affected, use the left wing; if the right side is affected, use the right wing.
