On the sixth day of *Shanghan* (Cold Damage), the Jueyin meridian is affected. If the pulse is slightly floating, it indicates that recovery is imminent; if not floating, it indicates that recovery has not yet occurred. Jianzhong Tang (Reconstruct the Middle Decoction) should be administered.
On the sixth day of *Shanghan*, if the patient experiences thirst and desires to drink water, Zhuling Tang (Polyporus Decoction) should be administered.
On the sixth day of *Shanghan*, if the patient presents with mental restlessness, fullness, and retraction of the scrotum, this indicates that toxic pathogens are located in the zang-fu organs. It can be cured by purgation. Xiao Chengqi Tang (Minor Order the Chest and Stomach Decoction) should be administered.
On the sixth day of *Shanghan*, if the body is hot, there is aversion to wind, stiffness in the neck and nape, fullness under the hypochondrium, warmth in the hands and feet, and thirst, Xiaochaihu Tang (Minor Bupleurum Decoction) should be administered.
On the sixth day of *Shanghan*, if the yang pulse (cun position) is choppy and the yin pulse (chi position) is wiry, acute pain in the abdomen should be expected. First, administer Xiao Jianzhong Tang (Minor Reconstruct the Middle Decoction). If there is no improvement, Da Chaihu Tang (Major Bupleurum Decoction) should be administered.
On the sixth day of *Shanghan*, after having undergone sweating, emesis, or purgation therapies, the patient experiences deficiency-related vexillation and insomnia. In severe cases, there is mental confusion and disorientation. Zhizi Tang (Gardenia Decoction) should be administered.
On the sixth day of *Shanghan*, after sweating and purgation have been performed, the patient presents with fullness in the chest and hypochondrium, slight binding in the large intestine, dysfunction of the small intestine, but no vomiting. There is only sweating on the head, alternating chills and fever, and vexillation. This indicates that the pathogen has not yet resolved. Xiaochaihu Guizhi Tang (Minor Bupleurum and Cinnamon Twig Decoction) should be administered.
On the sixth day of *Shanghan*, if there is fever, slight aversion to cold, pain in the limbs and joints, support-like fullness in the epigastrium, and the exterior syndrome has not yet resolved, Chaihu Guizhi Tang (Bupleurum and Cinnamon Twig Decoction) should be administered.
On the sixth day of *Shanghan*, after severe purgation, if the body heat does not dissipate and there is a knotted pain in the heart region, this indicates that the disease is about to resolve. Zhizi Tang (Gardenia Decoction) should be administered.
On the sixth day of *Shanghan*, after purgation, if the patient presents with chest fullness, irritability, fright, difficulty in urination, delirium, and an inability to turn or roll over, Chaihu Tang (Bupleurum Decoction) should be administered.
On the sixth day, if the *Shanghan* has not resolved, and heat binds internally, with symptoms of feeling hot and occasionally aversive to wind, extreme thirst, dry tongue, and restlessness, Baihu Tang (White Tiger Decoction) should be administered.
On the sixth day of *Shanghan*, if wind and cold pathogens contend with each other, causing body pain and an inability to turn or roll over, with a pulse that is floating, deficient, and choppy, Shuzhu Fuzi Tang (Atractylodes and Prepared Aconite Decoction) should be administered.
After the sixth day of *Shanghan*, reaching the eighth or ninth day, if the symptoms resemble malaria, with more heat than cold, occurring twice a day: if the pulse is slightly slow, recovery is imminent; if the pulse is faint and there is aversion to cold, it indicates deficiency of both yin and yang, and emesis or purgation must not be repeated. If sweating results in a red face and heat, it indicates resolution. Guizhi Mahuang Tang (Cinnamon Twig and Ephedra Decoction) should be taken.
Heat diseases belong to the category of *Shanghan*. Some recover, while some die; death usually occurs between the sixth and seventh days, while recovery usually occurs after ten days. Why is this so?
