For the above medicines, when the pregnancy reaches three months, one must seek out the best quality from the local production areas. Sun-dry and expose them to dryness, then store them properly. Clearly label and record them, and place them in a quiet location. This is to avoid being busy and rushed during childbirth.
*Sheng Dihuang* (Fresh Rehmannia Root - select plump and good ones for cellar storage), *Sheng Mu Jiang* (Fresh Mother Ginger - slightly sun-dry and store), *Sheng Ou* (Fresh Lotus Root - wrap in original mud and store in a humid place), *Jizi* (Chicken Egg - store in straw to prevent damage), *Yan Cu* (Strong Vinegar), *Tou Kang* (First-run Rice Bran).
The above-mentioned medicines must be fully collected by the time the pregnancy reaches one month.
Store thirty to fifty small pebbles in a bamboo cage. When labor begins, heat them until red, pour vinegar over them, and hold two basins full near the parturient woman. The vinegar fumes must be strong.
*Luhuang Zhi* (Reed Yellow Juice), *Rugcao* (Bedding Grass - select good quality bundles). When the pregnant woman enters the final month, if pain is severe, she should hold it. During the final month, the woman must absolutely not drink alcohol, as this may cause mental confusion at the time of delivery. She must not be startled or disturbed, lest she be agitated before delivery. Servants should not be hurriedly summoned. Guests must not stay overnight or linger at the door.
The preparations mentioned above are quite trivial and detailed. However, regarding what is most urgent, nothing surpasses these. Only those with understanding will verify their efficacy; they must not be ignored.
