Treats convulsive disorders (Jing Feng) and various forms of epilepsy, characterized by high fever with coma or confusion, mental agitation, phlegm-saliva obstruction in the throat, or manifestations such as spasms and convulsions, and fixed staring of the eyes. All these conditions are treated with this formula.
Shehuang (Fire-calcined Chrysocolla, quenched nine times in vinegar, ground and sifted, 2 qian) Qingmengshi (Ground Ore of Malachite, ground, 1 qian) Zhusha (Cinnabar, ground and sifted, 3 qian) Xama (Toad, dried, one piece)
Grind all ingredients into a uniform powder. Use water-soaked wheat paste as a binder to form pills the size of sesame seeds. Take one pill per dose, dissolved in mint decoction using a knife blade for grinding (or simply dissolved), taken two to three times daily.
This medicine treats convulsive disorders and resolves phlegm-saliva; it does not contain mercury sublimate (Yinfen). Because children's zang-fu organs, teeth, gums, and intestines/stomach are delicate, great caution must be exercised when using medicines containing mercury sublimate to avoid other harms.
Treats pediatric shock-evil (Jing Xie), wind-heat causing phlegm obstruction, discomfort in the throat and diaphragm, restless sleep at night, crying during sleep, and convulsive disorders with spasms.
Shehuang (Calcined until red, quenched five times in rice vinegar, then boiled in vinegar until dry) Tian Nan Xing (Rhizoma Arisaematis, ground into powder, kneaded with mint juice into cakes, roasted until cooked) Fu Ling (Poria, peeled) Tiefen (Plumbum Metallicum, finely sifted) Shijunzi Ren (Fructus Quisqualis seed). The above five herbs are crushed, sifted into fine powder, each weighed at half jin.
Naobing (Borneol, separately ground)
Mix the powders of the aforementioned five herbs with the separately ground powder, blend well, and use glutinous rice paste as a binder to form pills the size of soap pods, coated with Zhusha (Cinnabar). Dissolve in mint tea for administration: for five-year-old children, divide one pill into two doses; for children under three years old, divide one pill into three or four doses, adjusting according to age. Regular use calms the spirit, anchors the heart, settles convulsions, and controls phlegm.
Treats pediatric five kinds of Gan syndrome (malnutrition due to digestive dysfunction), spleen and stomach disharmony, abdominal distension, recurrent pain, anorexia, leading gradually to emaciation. This formula is suitable for all such cases.
Houpo (Cortex Magnoliae Officinalis, peeled, stir-baked with ginger juice) Chenpi (Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae, pith removed) Chuanxiong (Rhizoma Chuanxiong, 1 fen each) Shijunzi Ren (Fructus Quisqualis seed, soaked, black skin removed, 1 liang)
Grind into fine powder. Form pills using refined honey, sized like soap seeds. For children over three years old, take one pill; for those under three, take half a pill, dissolved in aged rice water. It effectively treats pediatric abdominal pain.
Treats persistent vomiting and diarrhea in children, inability to take milk or food. Regular use regulates the stomach and promotes appetite.
Baibian Dou (Semen Dolichoris, steamed and dried) Huoxiang Ye (Herba Pogostemonis) Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae, stir-baked) Huangqi (Radix Astragali, tips removed, 1 liang each) Renshen (Radix Ginseng) Fuling (Poria, peeled)
