Wheat flour (Tritici aestivi Farina) two he, divided into three doses, mixed with cold water and taken orally, finished within half a day; once the Gu poison is expelled, the disease will heal.
This is a common type of Gu poisoning in this region:
Bai Fan (Alumen), Jian Cha (Jian Tea) each one liang, ground together into fine powder, five qian per dose, mixed with newly drawn cold water, warmed and taken orally. (If the medicine tastes sweet and not bitter upon entering the mouth, it indicates this specific condition.)
Sucking Bai Fan (Alumen) yields a sweet taste, and chewing raw black soybeans does not produce a fishy smell; these are signs of this poison.
Decoct the bark of sour pomegranate root (Punica granatum L. cortex radicis) into a concentrated juice and take orally to induce vomiting of live Gu worms.
Ming Fan (Alumen refined) and Ya Cha (Tea leaves) in equal parts, ground into powder, mixed with cold water and three qian taken orally. Alternatively, frequently take half he of Qing Yan (Green Salt) juice. Or decoct Pomegranate peel (Granati Cortex) and drink the juice to induce vomiting.
Use Peng Sha (Borax) one qian five fen, mixed with cold water, administered orally; recovery occurs after one episode of vomiting. It can also treat Gong Fen (Lead White) poisoning or excessive alcohol intoxication, with repeated successful trials.
Administer Pumpkin juice (Cucurbitae moschatae Fructus sucus) orally, or Sesame oil (Sesami oleum). Or crush Qiang Qiang Cao (Hedysarum polybotrys) and administer the juice orally; decoction is also acceptable. Or burn four qian of Cotton seed hulls (Gossypii Semen testa) to ash, mix with two qian of Salt (Natrii Chloridum) ground into powder, pour into half a large bowl of boiling water, mix well and administer orally. For severe cases, wait a moment and administer another dose. If the jaw is clenched tightly, place the mixture in a teapot and slowly administer through the nostrils until it reaches the throat and stomach, which will save the life. (Remove salt from this formula to also treat poisoning from Lead White, Wild Dandelion, and various insect poisons.)
Taking cold water leads to survival, while taking hot tea leads to death.
Administer raw Tofu slurry (Sojae albae pulpa) orally. Or wring out turbid water from wallpaper wiped with grease and administer orally (must use cold water). Or crush Soap (Sapo) until extremely soft, mix with clear water and administer. Or administer three to four bowls of cold Rice washing water (Oryzae sativae Aqua elutionis). Or drink Pig fat (Su), or mix four liang of White sugar (Saccharum) with water and administer.
Do not rush to bury in a coffin; allow the patient to lie quietly (avoid exposure to sunlight). Often, patients gradually regain consciousness, or even after lying for several days. In summer, it is best to lie in a cool, shaded place, or dig a pit for lying down, which is particularly effective.
Sheep tibia bone powder (Ovis aries tibia pulveris), three qian per dose, mixed with rice soup and taken orally; the poison is immediately expelled via stool. Or decoct Scallion white (Allii fistulosi bulbus) and drink the juice, or eat more walnuts. Or use aged Barley (Hordei vulgaris fructus) (remove awns, stir-fry and grind into powder), mix with a small amount of Brown sugar (Saccharum brunneum) and eat, three times a day, one zhan per dose. The poison will be expelled after three to four days. Only rice porridge should be eaten; avoid drinking soups or water.
