Take one hairbrush whose bristles are permeated with oil, burn it until charred, grind it into powder, mix with wine, and take one *zhong* (an ancient measuring vessel) at once; food intake can resume within half a day.
Another prescription: Take one tuft of a child's lanugo (embryonic hair), roast it on a Yin-Yang tile until carbonized but retaining its medicinal properties (*cun xing*), grind into fine powder, and administer with aged rice wine; the effect is extremely good.
Yet another miraculous prescription: Take pig bristles along with coarse skin and hoof tips (any quantity), dry them thoroughly, place them on a clean stone, ignite with fire, and burn until they resemble ointment paste, then stop the fire. After cooling completely, grind into an extremely fine powder. Take three *qian* per dose, administered with boiled water. (This prescription is effective for those under fifty years old, with hundred percent accuracy; truly a celestial formula.)
Another frequently verified prescription: Take forty-nine eggshell membranes, add one *jin* of pepper, steam in high-quality distilled liquor for forty-nine days, then sun-dry for forty-nine days. Store in a porcelain bottle. When encountering dysphagia (*ye zheng*), swallow three *qian* of pepper with boiled water every morning; recovery occurs after three doses.
Another strange pill prescription (This formula is plain yet possesses miraculous efficacy; do not disregard it. It is inexpensive yet powerful; produce more to help others. The pills have a solid exterior and hollow interior, which is particularly unique): During a solar eclipse, starting from the initial obscuration, use two *jin* of white flour. Mix with water, knead, and face the sun to form pills, sized like longan seeds. Stop when the sunlight returns to normal. Dry these flour pills in the sun on that same day and store properly. One pill per year of age; boil and eat on an empty stomach for extreme efficacy. (Ineffective if not exposed to sunlight.)
Stir-fry old smithing slag (*duan shi*) until hot, grind into powder, and make pills with good vinegar, sized like beans. Take seven pills per dose, administered with ginger decoction; cured in three days.
Burn yellow beeswax and inhale the smoke into the mouth; bleeding or pain stops after two or three times. Alternatively, mix one cup of distilled liquor and one cup of freshly drawn well water, and take together.
Two *liang* of tangerine peel (pith removed), decoct in one large bowl of water until reduced to one-fifth volume, stew, and take warm. For chronic cases, add one *he* of fresh ginger juice and one spoonful of honey, take warm.
Chew fresh ginger frequently.
Raw chew several slices of radish, or raw chew lettuce.
Twenty gardenia fruits (*Zhi Zi*), lightly stir-fried, remove the skin, decoct, and take.
Chinese chives (*Jiu Cai*) (roots also acceptable), wash clean, crush to extract juice, and drink. Alternatively, stir-fry Cyperi Rhizoma (*Xiang Fu*) and Alpiniae Officinarum Rhizoma (*Liang Jiang*) until fragrant, grind into powder, and send down with boiled water three *qian* (Cyperi Rhizoma processed with vinegar, Alpiniae Officinarum Rhizoma processed with wine); seven doses are especially excellent. Taking with ginger-salt decoction is also acceptable. Alternatively, use seven red dates (pitted and mashed), three *qian* of tangerine peel, and three *qian* of fresh ginger, decoct in water, and take.
Another prescription: Half a cup of brown sugar, mixed with distilled liquor and taken. Or half a *sheng* of raw sesame seeds (stir-fried until black and ground into powder), taken with yellow wine. Or Galla Chinensis (*Ya Zao*) (burned until carbonized and ground into powder), taken with distilled liquor, one *qian*.
