Use three stalks of *Allium fistulosum* var. *giganteum* (Wuzhao Cong, Five-clawed Scallion) to continuously tap the infant's back; the infant will naturally cry out. If the weather is cold, do not cut the umbilical cord; instead, use a thin paper strip dipped in oil and lit, fumigating the area below the navel back and forth.
Cook genuine *Dioscorea opposita* (Shanyao, Chinese Yam) until soft, mix with sugar, and administer orally.
Take soil from the floor where a footrest is placed in the bedroom of a man who has a wife, sieve it, mix with sesame oil (*Sesamum indicum* oil), and apply around the periphery of the carbuncle/ulcer, leaving the top, the size of a chess piece, uncovered to allow pus and blood to drain.
If an infant exhibits symptoms such as neonatal tetanus within seven days after birth, a cyanotic vein must appear on the lower abdomen, extending straight to the umbilicus and bifurcating into two branches. Immediately take aged mugwort leaves (*Artemisia argyi*), knead them until soft, form them into moxa cones, and moxibustion should be applied to the head of this vein and the ends of the two branches. Once the cyanotic vein disappears, the infant will survive. Alternatively, decoct 3 qian of peppermint (*Mentha haplocalyx*) into a strong liquid and administer 2-3 mouthfuls (do not give more); recovery will be immediate.
Also known as Jin Feng (Jingling Wind/Tetanus). The condition presents with closed eyes, locked jaw preventing suckling, and a crying sound resembling that of a goose. Or, fleshy growths like millet grains may gather on the tongue. Bowel and bladder functions remain normal, but the infant exhibits a locked jaw, red face, and excessive crying without spitting white foam. This differs from Suo Kou Feng (Pursed Mouth Tetanus). Administer juice extracted from grass chewed by a cow orally.
Another prescription: Take chicken excrement white part (size of a jujube), wrap in cotton, add one cup of water, boil down to half a cup, and divide into two doses for oral administration.
Another method: Apply sparrow excrement to the inside of the mouth.
Both treat the condition.
Take 3 fen of Shen Xian Tui (Parents' Nails), roast until charred to ash, mix with breast milk, and administer orally. Alternatively, apply good distilled liquor (Baijiu) to the navel area by suction.
Grind pure yellow earth into fine powder, place in a silk bag, and gently dust over the infant's entire body, 3-4 times daily. Rice flour can also be used.
Another method: Roast ground beetles (*Gryllotalpa orientalis*, Lougu) into ash and apply externally.
Another case: For newborns whose skin resembles fish bladders or crystal (which leaks fluid upon rupture), apply lead monoxide powder (*Luo Han Shuang/Miduo Seng*).
Decoct feces found in bird's nest swallows (*Hirundo rustica*) and use the decoction for bathing the infant.
Apply cow saliva (from cows walking eastward) to the infant's mouth and chin.
Burn mugwort leaves (*Artemisia argyi*) to ash and fill the umbilicus. Alternatively, burn tangled hair to ash, apply with oil, and keep dry (avoid water contact).
Place the infant on the bed and allow spontaneous convulsions and limb movements; do not hold tightly, lest the infant become disabled (they will wake up spontaneously).
Decoct 2.5 qian of raw licorice root (*Glycyrrhiza uralensis*) in water, warm, and administer. After the infant vomits phlegm and saliva, drip breast milk into the infant's mouth. Alternatively, apply alum powder (*Ku Fan*) externally.
