If a patient with Ding poison (Ding carbuncle toxin) consumes pork leading to Zouhuang (a critical syndrome where toxin sinks inward), the condition is considered incurable.

If a Ding carbuncle arises on the middle or lower part of the lip and is not treated urgently, death will ensue.

Family members of those suffering from this sore should take early measures to control it to prevent contagion.
Take 5 qian each of Xionghuang (Realgar) and Chuanjiao (Sichuan Pepper, Fructus Zanthoxyli). Take 100 Almond seeds (Xingren, Semen Armeniacae Amarum) stir-fried and peeled of skin and tips. Take 10 jin of Xianggeng Yunai (Aromatic Taro Corm). Peel them without roasting or frying. Slice and sun-dry until extremely dry. Grind into a fine powder. Make pills using hot water. Take 3 qian morning and evening, delivered with sweet wine.
Those who do not drink alcohol may use rice soup for delivery, or simply consume the dry pills with wine.

Extract juice from fresh Yelangdu (Euphorbia fischeriana, a wild root found near mountains and graves, characterized by long pointed leaves and large seed pods resembling elm seeds; the root is thick like a bowl or small teacup, with thick white juice, commonly known as Cat's Eye; dried form is ineffective). Apply the juice to the lesion using a chicken feather brush. Effect is seen within one night (do not let it touch healthy skin). Alternatively, take 4 liang each of Yuanshen (Scrophulariae Radix steamed in wine), Beimu (Fritillariae Bulbus steamed in wine), and Muli (Ostreae Concha calcined).
