Spread salt on the sore and painful area, and continuously strike the salt with a burning rush light (Jiedao). Stop when the skin and flesh become slightly warm; resume striking after the heat subsides. It can be cured after several times.

Cut off the top of a small watermelon as a lid. Loosen the inner pulp, add four taels of distilled liquor (Shaojiu), replace the lid, and place it in a clay pot. Use a bowl to prop up the watermelon, cook until done, squeeze out the juice, and take it orally. Take one watermelon during each of the three "Fu" periods (early, middle, and late summer heat); taking three in total according to this method yields immediate effect.

Even those who have been unable to move for over ten years can be treated.

Cibotium barometz (Jinmao Gouji) (use the whole plant): Wash off the hairs with yellow wine until clean, slice it, and boil it in three jin of yellow wine for the time it takes to burn three incense sticks. Bury it in the soil for seven days. For patients with hollow bones/joints, take orally three times a day; walking ability can be restored within a few days.

Another external treatment: Decoct the vine of Trichosanthes cucumerina (Wanggua Teng) to fumigate and wash the affected area.

For hemiplegia on the left side or right side, and thirty-six types of wind disorders:

Dry the purple-backed duckweed (Zibei Fuping), grind it into powder, make pills the size of bean bullets using honey, dissolve in Doulin Jiu (wine soaked with beans) for oral administration, inducing sweating.

Five taels of Gleditsia sinensis fruit (Zaojiao) (peeled), ground into powder, mixed with aged vinegar. If the mouth deviates to the left, apply to the right corner of the mouth; if it deviates to the right, apply to the left corner. Replace when dry.

Drip a small amount of turtle urine under the tongue; speech can be restored immediately. Alternatively, take one seed of Croton tiglium (Badou) (shelled), crush it together with Artemisia argyi leaves (Aiye), burn it to produce smoke, and fumigate the nose to restore consciousness.

In apoplexy where the patient is confused like being drunk, with open mouth and relaxed hands, or drooling from the corner of the mouth, immediate rescue is required. Take four fresh Gleditsia sinensis fruits (Zaojiao) (remove black skin and tendons) and one tael of Alum (Mingfan)... [text cuts off].

Symptoms resembling apoplexy but with internal phlegm sounds, and deviation of the mouth and closing of the eyes, are termed "Phlegm Stroke" (Zhong Tan). Do not use ginger; smelling ginger will lead to untreatable conditions.

Blow fine powder of Asarum heterotropoides (Xixin) into the nasal cavity; sneezing will restore consciousness. Alternatively, drip urine into the throat, or administer white balsam apple flower (Baifengxianhua) mixed with wine; both are effective. After ten days, must take Shiquan Dabu Tang (Decoction of Ten Ingredients for Great Tonification).

For all dizziness, mania, and epilepsy caused by wind-phlegm that persists for a long time:

One tael of Alum (Bai Fan) and five qian of fine tea leaves, ground together into powder. Make pills the size of paulownia seeds using refined honey. Take fifty pills after meals with ginger soup; long-term use will expel phlegm through the stool.

Burn one chi of silk cotton (Simian) to ash, take orally with boiling water or wine.

Heat salt until red-hot, decoct in river water, and drink. After a while, stimulate the throat with a finger to induce vomiting of hot phlegm; it can be cured after several times.
