The *Huangdi Neijing* (Yellow Emperor's Inner Canon) states: If a person falls from a height, evil blood (stasis) remains inside, causing abdominal distension and fullness, and inability to pass stool or urine. One should first drink purgative medicines. This is because the injury above damages the meridians of Jueyin (Liver and Pericardium), and the injury below damages the collaterals of Shaoyin (Kidney and Heart). Acupuncture should be performed at Ran Gu (KI2) located anterior to the medial malleolus of the foot until bleeding occurs. If not healed, acupuncture should be performed at the arterial pulse above the knee joint. If still not healed, one needle should be inserted into each of the "San Mao" (hair tufts near the nail of the big toe) until bleeding occurs, which will immediately cure the condition. The treatment follows the principle of treating the left side for right-sided symptoms and vice versa.

The *Ling Shu* (Spiritual Pivot) states: Due to falling, evil blood (stasis) remains inside. If accompanied by great anger, Qi ascends but does not descend, accumulating under the hypochondrium, it injures the Liver. Additionally, wind-stroke, blows, or having intercourse while drunk with sweat exposed to wind will injure the Spleen. Regarding headache, it should not be treated by distant points; if there is evil blood (stasis) from blows or falls remaining inside causing persistent pain, lateral needling can be used, but distant points should not be selected.

The *Huangdi Neijing* also states: A liver pulse that is firm and long, without bluish discoloration of the face, indicates injury from a fall. If the pulsation is due to blood stasis under the hypochondrium, it causes vomiting and regurgitation.

The *Jinkui Yaolue* (Essential Prescriptions of the Golden Cabinet) states: A cun position pulse that is floating, faint, and choppy generally indicates blood loss. If sweating has not occurred, it is because blood loss resulted from sores or ulcers on the body.

Zi He stated: For all cases of falling from horses, falling into wells, blunt trauma, sprains, fractures, or swelling and pain from beating that does not cease, severe purgation can be used. Once the pain stops and swelling subsides, medicines such as Tongjing San (Unblocking Meridian Powder) should be used for treatment.

Regarding diseases of falling injuries, the discussions in the *Huangdi Neijing · Ling Shu*, *Jinkui Yaolue*, and Zi He are detailed. Only in the specialty of Bone Setting and Arrowhead Removal does Wei Shi elaborate on reduction techniques, including six methods for dislocation of hands and feet, four methods for bone fractures, methods for spinal fractures, ten untreatable conditions, and medication protocols, which are extremely comprehensive. Later, Tian Maqi and others were inspired by previous works to supplement their omissions and simplifications; the canonical meanings are largely similar with minor differences. Books on this subject should prioritize Wei Shi's work. Current practitioners focus solely on external treatment without diagnostic examination, failing to understand pulse diagnosis. Consequently, they cannot determine the severity of internal injuries, leading to significant errors. Is this not a grave mistake? If one can identify fractures and dislocations, manipulate dislocated joints back into their sockets, apply splinting according to methods for fractures, clarify the pulse and meridian syndromes, and use the sequence of medications listed below, one will ultimately avoid premature death. Can one not be cautious? Now, the total of 365 bone joints in the human body are listed below.

The human body has a total of 365 bone joints, described sequentially using 165 characters. Starting from above the clavicle as the head, extending left, right, front, and back to the Yuan bone, using 49 characters, a total of 72 bones are connected. The center of the crown is the Dulu bone (one, said to have potential, slight marrow, and fluid). Next behind the skull is the Lou bone (one, with potential, slight marrow). These 365 bones are formed by the interaction of Heaven and Earth, with humans being the most spiritual. Women lack five bones: Dingwei, left Dong, right Peng, and two Chubu bones, totaling 360 bones. Of these, 190 bones in both men and women are either hidden, lined, or lack potential/marrow. The remaining 256 bones possess marrow and fluid, storing tendons and connecting vessels. The streams and valleys interact to form the body shape, called the Four Greats. This is the constant measure of bones.

Discussion on Hands: There are four types of fractures and six types of dislocations. Whenever an arm dislocates, the proximal bone segment is the mortar (socket), and the distal segment is the pestle. The tendons and vessels on all four sides lock it; if dislocated, the tendons may also be torn, causing the dislocation. This bone must be pulled straight. One person pulls, while another holds the bone in place, manipulating it back into the socket. Observe which direction the bone protrudes, use a bamboo strip to splint one side, leaving the other unsplinted, ensuring the splint is placed at the flexion/extension point. After taking medicine, do not fixate it completely; occasionally pull into flexion and extension. This area has many tendons; after medication, if not flexed and extended, it may become diseased, resulting in permanent stiffness.

Shoulder Blade Dislocation: This is simply the arm bone dislocating downwards, or the body bone dislocating upwards, either to the left or right. Use one pestle and one low stool. Have the patient stand on the stool, prop with the pestle at the dislocation site. If low, pad it up; if the pestle is long, raise the stool. One person holds the hand, remove the stool, one person holds the pestle, and one person assists the patient to drop their body weight from above. The joint will return to the socket miraculously. If not using a small stool, place two small ladders opposite each other, thread a wooden rod through the rungs, hold the rod, align the edge with the axilla of the dislocation, and let the body drop from above; the joint will naturally return to the socket.

Foot Dislocations and Fractures: There are six dislocations and four fractures. If the dislocation occurs at the junction of the foot plate and KT, one person must pull while feeling the joint manually. If the bone protrudes inward, pull it outward; if it protrudes outward, pull it inward to return it to the socket. If only pulling without manual reduction, it will cause disease. Knee dislocations are the same as elbow dislocations. Whether inward or outward, splint one side. This area has the most tendons; after medication, frequently flex and extend, do not fixate. Fear re-dislocation, so monitor constantly, do not be negligent.

Bone Setting and Metal Wounds: Must observe the pulse. If vital organs are injured fatally, a deficient and rapid pulse indicates danger. If the wound is superficial but the life pulse is deficient and rapid, there is future concern. If the injury is severe but the life pulse is harmonious and slow, there is no worry. Pulses can be deficient or excess, coming or going, sparse or dense. If internal organs are injured but the patient survives, the Guan pulse must be solid and heavy, indicating no worry. Or if injured fatally, if the Guan pulse shows no distinction and is flooding and large, it is difficult to treat. If after using two doses of medicine the pulse does not change, stop the medicine urgently. If the pulse gradually responds to the medicine, it is treatable and safe. If there is heavy bleeding, the pulse should not be flooding, but rather level, correct, heavy, and solid. If no blood was lost, there is no evil blood inside; the pulse may want to be flooding, but should not be sparse or dense, nor fluctuating in arrival/departure, fearing malignant transformation. Injury pulses often differ from internal medicine pulses. If internally injured, fatally injured, or in difficult-to-treat areas, if the life pulse has departed, do not treat such cases.
