This is one of the Five Corpse diseases, additionally complicated by ghostly pathogens causing affliction. The pathological changes involve thirty-six to ninety-nine variations. Generally, it causes alternating chills and fever with profuse sweating, a depressed and silent demeanor with unclear location of pain, and discomfort throughout the body. Persisting for years and months, it leads to death, after which it can transmit to others. Urgently, use fifty Tao Ren (Persicae Semen, 桃仁), grind into a paste with water, decoct to obtain four sheng (approx. 0.8 liters) of liquid, administer orally to induce vomiting. If not fully vomited, repeat induction of vomiting after three or four days. (From *Zhouhou Beiji Fang*)
The condition resembles insect borings, named Da Bai Yi (Giant White Termite). Grind Cha Zi (Camellia Seed, 茶子) into powder and insufflate into the nasal cavity for efficacy. (From *Yang Gong Yifang Zhaiyao*)
Cang Yan (Halloysitum Rubrum, 沧盐), red in color, ground, added to river water, boiled, and drunk. Induce vomiting to expel several sheng of hot phlegm, then recovery occurs. *Su Wen* states: Excess of Shen (Spirit, 神) leads to incessant laughter. Shen corresponds to Heart Fire. When fire meets wind, smoke arises; this is the manifestation of laughter. A woman suffered from this condition for half a year; Zhang Zhihe cured her using this prescription. (From *Rumen Shishen*)
*Cui Shi Fang* treats Jia Ju (Onychocryptosis/Paronychia, 甲疽), which may arise from trimming nails injuring the muscle, or long nails invading the flesh forming sores. Yellow fluid exudes and spreads infectiously, rotting all five fingers, gradually ascending to the dorsum of the foot, with blisters and pus forming around like burns. It causes day-and-night strange pain, unmanageable by physicians. Use Lv Fan Shi (Chalcanthite, 绿矾石) five liang, calcine until complete, grind into powder until the color resembles Huang Dan (Minium, 黄丹), and store. Each time, wash and wipe the area with salt water, apply a thick layer of the powder, wrap warmly with soft silk. The oozing will stop and the sore will dry on the same day. Repeat once daily, washing with salt water. For areas with pus, clean thoroughly before application; do not touch dry scabs. If there is acute pain, apply a small amount of Su You (Butyrum, 酥) to moisten it; it will detach within five days. When the upper scab lifts, wash and apply as before; within ten days, the scab will gradually peel off completely. If soft areas regenerate white pustules, pierce them and apply medication; natural healing will occur. Vice Minister Zhang suffered from this for sixty days lying in bed; prescriptions by capital physicians were ineffective. Obtaining this prescription proved miraculous. (From Wang Tao's *Waitai Miyao*)
Foreign bodies one or two cun in length: irrigate and soak the eye with fresh drawn cold water, changing frequently, until the object enters the water naturally. (From *Mei Shi Fang*)
If the mouth is filled like a pig bladder, failure to treat results in death. Apply Fu Di Mei (Soot from Cauldron Bottom, 釜底煤) mixed with wine topically. (From *Qianjin Fang*)
