There are cases where blood flows continuously from the pores in sequence, with the skin swelling like a drum. Within moments, the eyes, nose, and mouth are swollen shut by Qi. This is named: Mai Yi (Pulse Overflow). Using half a cup of fresh ginger juice mixed with half a cup of water, taking this will bring immediate relief. (From *Xia Ziyi Qiji Fang*)
Sores grow in the throat, layered like stacked plates, without pain. After a long time, orifices appear emitting foul odors, rendering the patient unable to eat or drink. Decocting leaves of *Chouju* (Stinking Orange) into a soup and consuming it continuously will surely cure the condition. (*Chouju*, known as *Gouju* in *Bencao Gangmu*, is likely a variety of dog orange used for hedges.) (From *Xia Ziyi Qiji Fang*)
Colorful sores resembling cherries grow on the neck. Upon rupture, the neck splits open, with the skin peeling off down to the feet. This is named: Rou Ren (Flesh Person). Regularly drinking cow's milk will cause it to dissipate naturally. (From *Xia Ziyi Qiji Fang*)
Generally, after severe vomiting and diarrhea, a person may experience cold limbs, unconsciousness, or abdominal and kidney pain following sexual intercourse, accompanied by spasms of the external genitalia, cold sweats, and Jue Ni (Cold Reversal). If not rescued within moments, death ensues. First, stir-fry scallion whites until hot and apply them to the navel. Then, crush three to seven stalks of scallion white, decoct them in wine, and administer orally; this will restore Yang. (From *Hua Tuo Jiuzu Bing Fang*)
Some individuals have a habit of chewing rice grains. Over time, this forms a Jia mass (abdominal mass). Without rice, they vomit clear fluid; with rice, symptoms cease. The rice does not digest, and prolonged suffering leads to death. Use three he of white rice and one sheng of chicken manure, stir-fry together until scorched, grind into powder, and take at once with one sheng of water. Soon after, the patient will vomit material resembling rice-grinding juice or white foamy clear water, indicating recovery. (From Sun Simiao's *Qianjin Fang*)
Some individuals feel comfortable only after drinking five sheng of oil; otherwise, they fall ill. This occurs because Fa Zheng (Hair Disease) enters the stomach, where Qi and Blood envelop it and transform it into worms. Half a liang of Xionghuang (Realgar), ground into powder, taken with water, will cause the worms to exit naturally. (From *Xia Ziyi Qiji Fang*)
Another prescription:
Patients suffering from Fa Zheng desire to drink oil. Take one sheng of oil, decoct it with Xiangfu (Cyperi Rhizoma) and Zelan (Lycopus Herba), place it near the patient's head so the aroma enters the nose and mouth, but do not allow them to drink it. When the patient falls asleep from extreme fatigue, the worms will emerge from the mouth. Quickly use Duan Shi (Calcined Oyster Shell) powder on hands to grasp and extract them completely; these are the Fa worms. Initially, they resemble thick vegetable shapes in flowing water. It is also said: To treat the sensation of Zheng worms moving up and down in the chest and throat, observe those who smell scallion and fermented soybeans; these are Fa Zheng worms. After fasting for two days, lie supine with mouth open. Scald scallions and fermented soybeans in oil to release fragrance, place near the mouth, and guide the worms out with an object. This will surely cure the condition. (From *Waitai Miyao*)
