Answer: The waist is the external manifestation of the Kidney and the pathway where the Qi and Blood of the Foot-Taiyang Bladder Meridian flow and pour. If pain extends to the lower abdomen, preventing flexion and extension of the body, accompanied by shortness of breath, this arises from deficiency and weakness of Kidney Qi. It is caused by excessive labor and injury, allowing Wind-Cold pathogens to take advantage of the deficiency. Consequently, the area fails to receive proper nourishment, resulting in lumbar pain. The *Neijing* states: "The waist is the mansion of the Kidney; if one cannot turn or rotate the waist, it indicates that the Kidney Qi is on the verge of exhaustion." If lumbar pain occurs during pregnancy, the fetus will inevitably miscarry.

Duzhong San (Eucommia Powder)
Duzhong Cortex (Eucommiae Cortex, peeled, pounded until broken, soaked in wine overnight, dried, 1 liang) Guixin Cinnamomi Ramulus (Cinnamon Twig, 1 liang) Mudanpi Moutan Cortex (Moutan Bark, 1 liang).
Grind all ingredients into a fine powder. Mix with warm wine and take 2 qian at any time.

Danggui Wan (Angelica Pill)
Danggui Radix Angelicae Sinensis (cut and washed, 3 liang) Shuizhi Hirudo (leech, stir-fried, 30 pieces) Taoren Persicae Semen (peach kernel, peeled and ground, 30 grains).
Grind all ingredients into a fine powder. Use wine to make a paste and form pills the size of tung tree seeds. Take 10 pills with warm wine. If not cured, increase the dose to 30 pills.

Shenzhuo Tang (Kidney-Attaching Decoction). Treats heaviness of the body, cold bi-syndrome in the waist with numbness and pain, feeling as if sitting in water, yet without thirst, with normal urination and appetite. The pathology belongs to the Lower Jiao. It results from prolonged exposure after sweating during labor, causing cold and dampness to penetrate the clothing lining. Symptoms include cold pain below the waist and a sensation of heaviness in the waist, as heavy as wearing five strings of coins.
Gancao Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Licorice Root, 2 liang) Ganjiang Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens (dried ginger, 2 liang) Fuling Poria (Poria, 4 liang) Baizhu Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma (Atractylodes Rhizome, 4 liang).
Grind into coarse powder. Take 5 qian per dose, add two zhan of water, boil, remove dregs, and take warm. Anytime.

Answer: Lihei (facial hyperpigmentation/darkening) and Heizi (black moles/nevi) both appear on the face but are originally two distinct conditions. The meridians of the Five Zang and Six Fu organs convey their Qi and Blood, which flourish upon the face. If Phlegm-Fluids infiltrate the viscera, or if the Couli (pores/skin interstices) are invaded by Wind, it leads to disharmony of Qi and Blood—either stagnation or dryness—preventing proper nourishment of the skin. Thus, darkening arises. If black spots aggregate, they are called Heizi. Those present from birth cannot be treated with medicine.

Xifeng San (Wind-Washing Powder). Treats Youfeng (wandering wind/pathogens on the face), Yinzhen (urticaria/hives), Fengci (acne/folliculitis), or Lihei.
Chongwei Cao Leonuri Herba (Motherwort Herb) Wancansha Bombyx Batryticatus (silkworm frass) Chixiaodou Phaseoli Semen Rubrum (red bean) Heiqianqiu Petasitae Radix (Fuzzy Butterbur Root) Baizhi Angelicae Dahuricae Radix (Dahurian Angelica Root) Benligasternidis Rhizoma (Ligusticum Rhizome) Jiangcan Bombyx Batryticatus (silkworm) Baifuzi Typhonii Rhizoma (Typhonium Rhizome) Caowutou Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata (Prepared Lateral Root of Monkshood) Baliaen Akebiae Caulis (Akebia Stem) Manjingzi Viticis Fructus (Viticis Fruit).
Grind all ingredients into equal parts powder. Use 1 qian for facial washing.
