Chuanxiong (6 fen), Danggui (3 qian), Huangma Gen (Rhizoma Imperatae Root), Tianma (Gastrodiae Rhizoma), Zaoren (Ziziphi Spinosae Semen) (each 1 qian), Renshen (2 qian), Gancao, Jingjie, Zao (3 pieces), decocted in water and taken orally. If the pulse is faint or absent, add additional Renshen (2-3 qian) and Fuzi (4-5 fen). Avoid consuming ginger, scallion, fried foods, stir-fried dishes, and raw/cold foods. If there is body heat, do not use wind-dispelling herbs; furthermore, avoid using Huangqin, Lian, Zhizi, and Bo. Urinary retention occurs due to fluid loss from excessive sweating; do not use diuretic herbs, nor use Xiao Xuming Tang or Yufeng Tang. Banxia and Nanxing should also be used sparingly. Do not trust in evil arts, magic rulers, talismans, or holy water.
Postpartum blood flooding, rapid breathing, Qi collapse, confusion approaching death, or syncope with clenched teeth: rapidly decoct Qingshen Fhun Tang and administer via gavage. If Qi is about to fail and oral administration is impossible, pour two or three fen of medicine into a wine cup for administration. Once administered, if the abdomen gradually becomes warm, survival is possible regardless of the number of doses. Additionally, another person must use warm hands to rub and press from the heart area down to the lower abdomen hundreds of times through the parturient woman's single-layer garment.
Chuanxiong (2 qian), Danggui (4 qian), Zhigancao (5 fen), Renshen (1 qian), Jingjie, Ganjiang (each 4 fen), Taoren (10 grains), [missing character, likely Rougui] (1 piece), decocted in water and taken orally. If the pulses in both hands are deep and hidden, or the right-hand pulse is absent, add Maidong (1 qian) and Wuweizi (10 grains).
After regaining consciousness, if abdominal mass-pain persists, reduce or remove Renshen etc., and continue taking Shenghua Tang. Wait until the mass-pain is completely resolved, then add back Renshen and Huangqi. If blood clots have dissipated, remove Taoren and Rougui. If diarrhea occurs, add Fuling (3 qian). This is a critical condition; administering two or three doses within one day and night can ensure ultimate safety.
For parturient women suffering for a long time with continuous blood flooding, or expelling clots as large as chicken eggs or in sheet-like forms, treatment should focus on herbs that greatly tonify the Spleen and Stomach, raise and lift Qi and Blood, and calm/level Heart Fire.
(Also treats hematuria in older or robust women.)
Baizhu (3 qian), Renshen, Shudi (each 2 qian), Danggui (2.5 qian), Huangqi (1 qian), Zhigancao (5 fen), Shengma (stir-baked), Huangbai (stir-baked), Qianghuo (each 4 fen), Fangfeng (3 fen). If diarrhea occurs, add Zexie (5 fen) and Lianzi (10 grains), and remove Huangbai. If leukorrhea increases, add Banxia and Cangzhu (each 1 qian). Postpartum spleen-deficiency diarrhea that does not cease.
