Treats difficult labor (abnormal fetal position, such as breech or transverse), thin fetus difficult to deliver, and concurrently treats deficiency and damage before and after childbirth, irregular menstrual pulse, and metrorrhagia. This formula is also known as Cui Sheng Hei San (Black Powder for Promoting Labor), also known as Wu Jin San (Black Gold Powder), also known as Er Shen San (Two Deities Powder).
Baicao Shuang (Soot from the bottom of a cooking pot) Xiang Baizhi (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix, do not roast with fire, grind into fine powder)
The above two ingredients are mixed in equal parts and ground evenly. Each dose is two Da Qian (approx. 6-9 grams). At the time of impending labor, mix with Tongzi Xiaoye (urine of a healthy young boy) and a small amount of rice vinegar to form a paste, then take with boiling water. The *Ji Yan Fang* uses half a zhan (approx. 100 ml) of wine and half a zhan of Tongzi Xiaoye, boiled together until just boiling, then taken hot. In severe cases, no more than two doses are needed. (Blood stops when it encounters black substances; this medicine strongly consolidates blood, avoiding dry and difficult labor, which is its wonder.)
Huangshu Kui Hua (Abelmoschi Hibisci Flos), regardless of quantity, dried by roasting and ground into fine powder. Take two Qian (approx. 3-6 grams) mixed with warm water; the effect is miraculous. For those with bleeding, dryness and roughness of the uterus, or severe pain due to difficult labor, take three doses consecutively. After a while, the qi in the abdomen becomes relaxed, the fetus becomes slippery, and delivery occurs immediately. If flowers are unavailable, use only Kuizi (Abelmoschi Semen), mash thoroughly to obtain approximately half a He (approx. 20 ml), mix with wine, filter out the dregs, and take warm in one dose; this is especially excellent. It also treats contusions and injuries. If the fetus dies and remains inside, decoct Honghua (Carthami Flos) and take with warm wine. There is a song rhyme saying (the *Jing Yan Fang* uses forty-nine seeds of Kuizi): Thirty grains of the seed within the golden pod, finely ground and mixed with wine for emergencies; if life hangs by a thread in an instant, let the family cease their weeping.
Cai Xiucai's Formula: Use Kuizi alone, ground into ink-like consistency, or coated with Zhusha (Cinnabar). Take forty pills each time, swallowed with warm wine.
For treating abnormal physiological processes in postpartum women and difficult childbirth, this is suitable for all. (From *Sheng Hui Fang*, same as *Ju Fang*, should be prepared on Tian Yi Day.)
Shiyue Tu Naosui (Rabbit brain marrow from December, remove skin and membrane, grind like mud) Tongming Ruxiang (Frankincense, one Fen approx. 0.3-0.5g, grind fine) Mu Dingxiang (Eugeniae Caryophyllata Flos, powdered, one Qian approx. 3-5g) Shexiang (Musk, one Zi approx. 0.3g, grind fine)
Mix the above four ingredients evenly, combine with rabbit brain marrow to form pills the size of a chicken head kernel. Dry in the shade and seal tightly with oil paper. Take one pill each time, washed down with warm water, resulting in immediate delivery. Depending on whether it is a boy or girl, hold it in the left or right hand respectively; this is the verification method.
