Treats women with accumulated spleen blood and qi stagnation, as well as heart-spleen pain. (Added by Nan Liude)
Shichangpu (Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma, select nine-joint ones, six liang) Wuzhuyu (Evodiae Fructus, processed) Xiangfuzi (Cyperi Rhizoma, stir-fried, remove hairs, four liang each)
The above three herbs are finely chopped together, boiled in five sheng of strong vinegar until the vinegar is dry, then dried and ground into fine powder. Good Shenqu (Medicated Leaven) paste is used to make pills the size of Sophora japonica seeds. Take forty to fifty pills on an empty stomach before meals with light ginger soup, three times a day. Jupi Tang (Tangerine Peel Decoction) is also good.
Treats women suffering from unbearable pain caused by wandering blood and qi, irregular menstruation, sallow complexion, and reduced appetite; as well as various postpartum diseases. Yanhusuo San (Corydalis Powder).
Yanhusuo (Corydzalis Rhizoma, raw) Sanleng (Sparganii Rhizoma, raw) Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, remove radicle, soak in wine) Ezhu (Curcumae Longae Rhizoma, soak in vinegar briefly, equal parts)
Grind the above into powder. Each dose is two qian. Take on an empty stomach, mixed with warm wine. If blood and qi attack severely or menstruation is irregular, mix with urine from an uncircumcised boy, wine, and Honghua (Carthami Flos), decoct together, and take mixed.
Treats women with long-standing accumulated blood and qi, frequent stabbing pain, emaciation, fatigue, and irregular menstruation. Danggui Jian Wan (Angelica Decoction Pill).
Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, two liang, grind separately into powder) Binglang (Arecae Semen) Chishaoyao (Paeoniae Radix Rubra) Mudanpi (Moutan Cortex) Yanhusuo (Corydalis Rhizoma, one liang each)
Except for the Danggui powder, boil the rest with rice vinegar into a thick paste. Add the other herb powders and mix to form pills the size of Sophora japonica seeds. Take twenty pills on an empty stomach with warm wine. Take another dose before noon meal.
Treats women with years of accumulated blood and qi attacking and stabbing the heart and abdomen with unbearable pain, and those whose conditions have not improved despite various treatments. It is suitable to take Shensheng Beiting Wan (Divine Northern Pavilion Pill). (From *Lingyuan Fang*)
Beiting (unknown specific herb, remove sand/stone, grind) Moyao (Myrrha) Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix) Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, one fen each) Yuanhua (Genkwa Flos) Ezhu (Curcumae Longae Rhizoma, half liang each) Badou (Crotonis Fructus, remove skin, membrane, and heart, forty grains)
First grind Beiting, Moyao, and Badou into powder. Boil with three sheng of good rice vinegar into a thin paste. Then grind the remaining four herbs into fine powder, add to the paste, knead into blocks, and store in a new tile vessel. Adjust the number of pills temporarily according to circumstances. Decoct half a zhan of wine and half a zhan of vinegar together for a few boils. Take orally in one go, do not chew, and must consume all the wine and vinegar. The illness will heal immediately. For men with blood and qi issues, follow the same prescription. For acute throat obstruction (Ji Hou Bi), for men use the left nostril and for women the right nostril; sniff one pill into the nose for immediate relief.
It states: "Adjust the number of pills temporarily," but does not specify the size or quantity. Upon closer inspection, the ancients were somewhat careless here. Since it contains Beiting, Yuanhua, and Badou, the pills should be made the size of mung beans, taking only five pills per dose.
Treats disharmony of blood and qi during pregnancy and postpartum, as well as all diseases. Hupo San (Amber Powder).
