Treats various diseases occurring before and after childbirth. It treats women with obstructed Ying and Wei (nutritive and defensive qi) circulation, irregular menstruation, cramping pain in the abdomen, a condition of excessive Qi and deficient Blood, where stagnation forms masses (Jia). It is particularly excellent for treating wind-stroke after childbirth.
Sheng Di Huang (Rehmanniae Radix, one jin, ground to extract fresh juice) Sheng Jiang (Fresh Ginger Rhizome, twelve liang, ground to extract fresh juice)
First, stir-fry the ginger residue with the Rehmannia juice, then stir-fry the Rehmannia residue with the ginger juice. Dry them slightly, bake until dry, and grind into fine powder. Take three qian each time, mixed with warm wine. It is also suitable for ordinary abdominal pain and should not be omitted after childbirth.
Treats disharmony between Ying and Wei, and turbid menstruation. It greatly nourishes the blood collaterals and dispels evil blood. It treats cramping pain in the umbilical and abdominal regions, heaviness and bearing-down sensation in the waist and legs, and various disorders related to menstrual blood.
Sheng Jiang (Fresh Ginger Rhizome, twelve liang) Sheng Di Huang (Rehmanniae Radix, one jin; prepare the two ingredients as described above) Bai Shao Yao (Paeoniae Radix Alba) Yan Hu Suo (Corydalis Rhizoma, wrapped in paper soaked in vinegar and baked until cooked, rubbed with cloth to remove skin) Dang Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) Gui Xin (Cinnamomi Cortex) (each one liang) Hong Hua (Carthami Flos, stir-fried; omit if there is no evil blood) Mo Yao (Myrrha) (separately ground, half liang each) Pu Huang (Typhae Pollen, one liang, stir-fried through paper)
Grind the above into fine powder. Take two qian each time, mixed with warm wine. If menstruation does not follow its normal course, mix with wine decocted from Mu Dan Pi or Su Mu (here specified as Su Mu). If there is lower back pain, take with wine decocted from sugar balls, at any time.
