If a woman’s menses have ceased for three months and one wishes to verify pregnancy:
Take Chuanxiong Rhizoma (Chuanxiong, 川芎) (raw, not processed by heat).
Grind it into a fine powder. On an empty stomach, mix one *fangcun bi* (a traditional measure of volume, approx. 2-3 grams) with strong decoction of Mugwort Folium (Ai Ye, 艾叶) and ingest it. If slight fetal movement is felt in the abdomen, pregnancy is confirmed.

After conception, one must strictly avoid the locations occupied by the "Daily Wandering Fetal Killers" (You Tai Sha, 日游胎杀). As stated in medical classics: offending the direction of knives causes injury to the fetus's form; offending the direction of mud blocks the orifices; offending the direction of striking causes dark blue-black complexion; offending the direction of binding causes limb spasms and convulsions, potentially even leading to the mother's death. The verification is as easy as turning over a hand; it must absolutely not be neglected.

On Lichun (Start of Spring), avoid the bedroom; on Jingzhe (Awakening of Insects), avoid single-door entrances; on Qingming (Clear and Bright), avoid double doors; on Lixia (Start of Summer), avoid the stove; on Mangzhong (Grain in Ear), avoid the pregnant woman's body; on Xiaoshu (Minor Heat), avoid the stove; on Liqiu (Start of Autumn), avoid the mortar (according to the Jing edition, this is the North position, Zi); on Bailu (White Dew), avoid the kitchen and toilet; on Hanlu (Cold Dew), avoid the door; on Lidong (Start of Winter), avoid the house door and kitchen; on Daxue (Major Snow), avoid the furnace and stove; on Xiaohan (Minor Cold), avoid the bedroom and the pregnant woman's body.

On Jia and Ji days, avoid the door; on Yi and Geng days, avoid the mortar and millstone; on Bing and Xin days, avoid the well and stove; on Ding and Ren days, avoid the kitchen; on Wu and Gui days, avoid the grain storehouse.

On Zi and Chou days, avoid the central hall; on Yin, Mao, Chen, and You days, avoid the stove; on Si and Wu days, avoid the door; on Wei and Shen days, avoid under the fence; on Xu and Hai days, avoid the bedroom.

During the Jiazi decade, avoid windows and mortars; during the Jiashen decade, avoid the inner courtyard; during the Jiawu decade, avoid the room interior; during the Jiachen decade, avoid the room interior; during the Jiayin decade, avoid [text missing].

On the five days of Guisi, Jiawu, Yiwei, Bingshen, and Dingyou, avoid the north side of the room; on the three days of Gengzi, Xinchou, and Renyin, avoid the south side of the room; on the one day of Guimao, avoid the west side of the room; on the four days of Jiachen, Yisi, Bingwu, and Dingwei, avoid the east side of the room; on the Liuwu and Liusi days, avoid the center of the room; on other days, there are no restrictions outside.
Whenever the wandering spirit occupies a position within the room, it is inauspicious to place beds/curtains or sweep that specific area.
Additionally, one must avoid the "Child Killer," the "Three Killers" of the current year, and conditions related to maternal jaundice and destiny. After pregnancy, paste these prohibitions in a conspicuous place for constant reference. One must absolutely not engage in digging, drilling, moving nails, hanging fences/walls, or heavy crushing. Severe offenses may result in intrauterine fetal death and harm to the mother; minor offenses may cause the child to suffer misfortune, resulting in physical deformities upon adulthood, such as clenched hands, clubfoot, muteness, or deafness. These validations are extremely accurate.
