月事不来者,胞脉闭也。胞脉者,属心而络于胞中。今气上迫于肺,心气不得不通,故月事不来也。此论胞脉闭,
因热气攻于上,故迫肺作咳,病肺劳而不病石瘕也。

Shijia (Stone Mass) occurs when cold pathogen invades the uterus, presenting with a condition resembling pregnancy but without menstruation. Baobi (Uterine Vessel Closure) is caused by heat pathogen forcing upward to the lungs resulting in cough, and damaging heart blood and qi circulation.
[Note] The *Neijing* states: Shijia arises in the uterus; cold pathogen lodges at the Zi Men (cervical os). When Zi Men closes, cold pathogen cannot pass through, and evil blood should be discharged but remains stagnant, accumulating day by day until it enlarges, resembling pregnancy, and menses do not arrive on time. These conditions occur only in women and can be treated with draining methods. This discusses amenorrhea caused by cold pathogen lodging in the lower jiao, hence the disease is named Shijia rather than Feilao (Lung Consumption). The *Neijing* also says: The reason for absent menses is the closure of Baomai (uterine vessels). Baomai belongs to the Heart and connects to the uterus. Now, if Qi forces upward upon the Lungs, Heart Qi must communicate, yet menses do not arrive. This discusses Baomai closure caused by heat pathogen attacking the upper jiao, thus forcing the Lungs to cause cough; the disease is named Feilao rather than Shijia.
Diseases of Er Yang (Yangming Stomach) originate from the Heart and Spleen, manifesting as amenorrhea accompanied by unspoken distress. If Blood Deficiency (Xueku) transmits into Fengxiao (Wind Wasting), or develops into Xiben (Breathful Accumulation), death ensues and it becomes incurable.
[Note] Er Yang refers to the Yangming Stomach. If a woman harbors unspoken emotional distress, it causes stagnation of Heart and Spleen Qi, leading to Yangming Stomach dysfunction. Food intake decreases daily, and Blood fails to generate, resulting in amenorrhea. Blood deficiency generates internal heat; the more heat, the greater the deficiency. Muscles become dry and emaciated as if consumed by wind, hence named Fengxiao. Excessive Fire acts without restraint; Heart Fire attacks Lung Metal. Lung Qi fails to circulate, unable to distribute water essence. Water essence stagnates in the chest, and all body fluids transform into phlegm. Persistent coughing over a long period leads to consumption, transmitting into Xiben, which becomes incurable. Xiben refers to panting or wheezing.
Excessive blood loss, hypersexuality, frequent childbirth, and excessive lactation lead to gradual depletion of Blood (Xueku) until menstruation ceases. Symptoms include bone-steaming fever, pale complexion, red malar eminences, anorexia, emaciation, and frequent coughing.
[Note] Excessive blood loss results in a pale yellowish-white color of the face and fingernails, indicating a condition of blood exhaustion. Alternatively, due to hypersexuality causing essence depletion, or due to multiple births and heavy lactation damaging Blood and causing Blood Deficiency, menstruation gradually diminishes. After two or three months, amenorrhea occurs, leading to symptoms such as bone-steaming muscle heat, withered pale complexion, red malar eminences, aversion to food, dry skin and emaciation, and incessant coughing. These often develop into deficiency consumptive diseases.
