Jiawei Xiaoyao San (Modified Free and Easy Wanderer Plus Coptis and Rehmannia Decoction)
The whole body presents with symptoms resembling erysipelas, with ceaseless itching and pain; scratching leads to the formation of sores. This is caused by blood wind, damp-heat, and concomitant blood dryness. Treatment should employ Jiawei Xiaoyao San added with Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma) and Shengdi Huang (Rehmanniae Radix). After healing, if white scales appear and the skin becomes stiff, it indicates blood deficiency failing to nourish and moisten; Yangying Tang (Nourishing the Nutrient Qi Decoction) should be taken.
[Note] In women suffering from Blood Wind Sores, rashes erupt all over the body, resembling erysipelas, accompanied by itching or pain. Scratching results in sores. This condition arises from damp-heat and blood dryness. It is appropriate to use Jiawei Xiaoyao San supplemented with Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma) and Shengdi Huang (Rehmanniae Radix). If the sores scab over and heal, but subsequently produce white scales and stiff skin, this signifies that insufficient blood fails to moisten the tissues. Yi Qi Yang Rong Tang (Qi-Nourishing and Blood-Supplementing Decoction) should be administered.

Guifu Dihuang Wan (Cinnamon Twig and Aconite Pill for Replenishing Kidney Essence)
Worry, thought, depression, and anger damage the Liver and Spleen. Damp-heat generates internally, causing sores to develop on both heels. Lesions located on the Foot Three Yang meridians are relatively easy to treat, whereas those on the Foot Three Yin meridians are often difficult to cure. At the initial stage of redness and swelling, Baidu San (Poison-Resolving Powder) is indicated. If there is profuse discharge of pus and fluid, Buzhong Yiqi Tang (Tonify the Middle and Augment the Qi Decoction) is indicated. If there is afternoon fever due to Yin deficiency, Liuwei Dihuang Wan (Six-Ingredient Pill with Rehmannia) is indicated. If there is poor appetite and aversion to cold, Guifu Dihuang Wan is indicated.
[Note] Due to worry, excessive thinking, depression, and anger, a woman’s Liver and Spleen may be damaged. Alternatively, improper diet may injure Stomach Qi, leading to downward pouring of damp-heat. When combined with external invasion of cold-damp pathogenic factors, sores will inevitably arise on both heels. Sores occurring on the lateral aspect and dorsum of the foot (the pathway of the Foot Three Yang meridians) are still relatively easy to treat. However, sores arising on the medial aspect of the foot (the pathway of the Foot Three Yin meridians) are frequently difficult to heal. At the onset, characterized by redness and swelling, Renshen Baidu San (Ginseng Poison-Resolving Powder) is suitable. After ulceration with profuse purulent discharge, Buzhong Yiqi Tang is suitable. If accompanied by afternoon tidal fever, indicating Yin depletion, Liuwei Dihuang Wan should be taken concurrently. If accompanied by poor appetite, fatigue, and aversion to cold, it indicates deficiency of True Yang; Guifu Dihuang Wan should be taken, which is Liuwei Dihuang Wan plus Rougui (Cinnamomi Cortex) and Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata).
Renshen Baidu San (Formula see section on Postpartum Dysentery)
Buzhong Yiqi Tang (Formula see section on Uterine Bleeding in Volume 1)
Liuwei Dihuang Wan (Formula see Volume 1)
The Du Mai (Governor Vessel) originates from the Kidney and passes through the heel. Deficient heat in the Three Yin causes heel pain. Liuwei Dihuang Wan nourishes the True Water of the Kidney. If swelling and ulceration with pus occur, Bazhen Tang (Eight-Treasure Decoction) is used.
[Note] The heel is the origin point of the Du Mai (Governor Vessel), and the Foot-Shaoyin Kidney Meridian passes through this area. If there is deficient heat in the Three Yin meridians, heel pain occurs. It is appropriate to decoct and take a large dose of Liuwei Dihuang Wan ingredients to vigorously tonify the Yin fluids of the Five Zang organs. If the pain persists for a long time without healing, accompanied by swelling, ulceration, and purulent discharge, Bazhen Tang should be taken to vigorously tonify Qi and Blood.
