If the pulse is deep and solid, there is hope for survival; if it is deficient and large, death ensues. If the radial pulse (Cun) is deep and slippery, it indicates the presence of *Cunbai Chong* (Taenia saginata/Bandworm). If there are symptoms of yin erosion resembling silkworms, a deficient and small pulse indicates survival, while a forceful and rapid pulse indicates death.
The *Waitai Mi Yao* states that the pulse associated with parasites should be deep, weak, and wiry. If it is instead surging and large, it indicates that roundworms (*Hui Chong*) are severe.
The first is called *Fu Chong* (Hidden Worm), four cun in length, which is the leader of all worms. The second is called *Hui Chong* (Roundworm), also known as *Chang Chong* (Long Worm); when active, it causes vomiting of clear fluid, and if pain penetrates to the heart, it is fatal. The third is called *Bai Chong* (White Worm), one cun in length, also known as *Cunbai Chong*; it reproduces and grows larger, reaching four or five cun. It may be activated by weakness of the zang-fu organs or by consuming sweet and fatty foods. When active, it causes abdominal pain, with masses appearing and disappearing, moving up and down, with intervals of relief from pain. It may also attack the heart causing pain, and the mouth tends to salivate or vomit clear fluid. If it penetrates the heart, it is fatal. The fourth is called *Rou Chong* (Flesh Worm), shaped like rotting dregs, causing vexation and fullness. The fifth is called *Fei Chong* (Lung Worm), shaped like a silkworm, causing coughing and hoarseness. The sixth is called *Wei Chong* (Stomach Worm), shaped like a toad, causing vomiting and regurgitation, and frequent hiccups. The seventh is called *Ruo Chong* (Weak Worm), shaped like melon seeds, also known as *Ge Chong*, causing excessive salivation. The eighth is called *Chi Chong* (Red Worm), shaped like raw meat, causing borborygmus (intestinal rumbling). The ninth is called *Nao Chong* (Pinworm), extremely minute in shape, resembling vegetable worms, residing in the intestines. Activated by weakness of the zang-fu, it leads to hemorrhoids and scabies/tinea. Entering wounds on the body, it generates various sores, ulcers, tinea, scabies, and dental caries worms, doing everything possible.
The "Valley Gate Worm" (worms at the anus) arises from stomach weakness and yang deficiency, allowing pinworms to descend. The valley gate (anus) is the external manifestation of the Large Intestine. Pinworms are one of the nine worms. They reside in the intestines; if the qi of the zang-fu is clear and smooth, they do not move recklessly. If the stomach is weak and yang is deficient, pinworms take advantage. Mild cases involve itching or worms protruding from the anus; severe cases erode the anus, causing ulceration.
One discussion addresses various types of stagnation and accumulation: sallow complexion, emaciation, and weakness in the four limbs are all due to internal parasitic accumulation. This applies to those who crave raw rice, wall mud, tea, charcoal, salty, or spicy substances. This is parasitic accumulation. A single dose of this prescription can eradicate the root cause.

Crush the herbs, decoct in water, and leave exposed overnight. Take warm on an empty stomach at wugeng (3-5 AM). Do not consume any food during this time, otherwise the medicinal power will diminish, and the parasitic accumulation will not be expelled.
Shortly after taking the medicine, abdominal pain will occur, followed by the passage of stool resembling fish jelly, or long worms, or blood clots resembling turtles. By noon, the parasitic accumulation will be completely expelled. Then, use warm congee to stop diarrhea. Subsequently, take one course of **Tuihuang Wan** (Jaundice-Resolving Pill) for complete recovery.

One discussion addresses roundworms: if the heart feels like being pierced and clear fluid is vomited, extract juice from fresh Mugwort (Ai Ye). Fast overnight. Eat a square-cun piece of fat pork jerky first to attract the worms with the scent, then drink the mugwort juice. The worms will be expelled.
