1. Apoplexy resulting in aphasia, or phlegm syncope (Phlegm Syncope: a condition characterized by sudden loss of consciousness due to phlegm obstruction) and qi syncope (Qi Syncope: a condition characterized by sudden loss of consciousness due to qi stagnation), with sudden collapse and unconsciousness. Immediately use 3–4 liang of Sesame Oil (Sesamum indicum oil), add 2–3 fen of Musk powder (Moschus), mix evenly. Pry open the patient's mouth and administer the mixture to unblock the orifices; consciousness will be restored immediately. If Musk is unavailable, half a zhan of fresh Ginger juice (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens) taken together is also effective.
2. Realgar poisoning (Realgar Poisoning: toxicity caused by arsenic sulfide minerals). Whether accidental or intentional ingestion due to anger, immediately administer over one bowl of Sesame Oil. Recovery occurs through vomiting or purging. If taken with wine, it is difficult to save because the toxin disperses throughout the body.
3. Carbuncles, sores, boils, and skin diseases such as bullae (Bullae: blisters) and yaws (Yaws: a chronic infectious disease affecting skin and bones). Use one jin of Sesame Oil, add half a zhong of water, and boil until the oil is reduced and white smoke rises. Remove from heat and store in a porcelain bottle. Take one zhong of refined oil mixed with one zhong of good non-ashy liquor warm, morning and evening. The root cause is eliminated in seven days.
4. Heart pain with locked jaw, near death. Use three to five old scallion whites (Scallion Bulb), mash into a paste, and extract the juice. Pry open the patient's mouth and deliver the scallion juice into the throat using a tea spoon. Then administer four liang of Sesame Oil. Do not use less oil. Once the scallion-oil mixture enters the throat, the patient revives. Soon after, parasites and accumulated matter in the abdomen transform into yellow fluid and are excreted via urine and feces; mild purging is ideal. This prevents recurrence. If the scallions are dry and lack juice, add water while mashing.
5. Various insects entering the ear. Instill Sesame Oil to expel them.
6. Postpartum uterine prolapse. Refine Sesame Oil, place in a basin, and let it cool to a warm temperature. Have the parturient sit in the oil basin for about the time it takes to eat a meal. Blow a small amount of Sophora Flavescens Root powder (Sophorae Flavescentis Radix) into the nose to induce sneezing; the uterus will instantly retract. Highly effective.
7. Cold damage (Cold Damage: external contraction pathogenic factors) for three to five days, suddenly presenting with jaundice (Jaundice: yellowing of skin and eyes). Mix one zhan of raw Sesame Oil, half a zhan of water, and one egg white (Egg White) evenly. Administer in one dose.
8. Heart pain caused by insect bites. Boil Sesame Oil with salt and take one zhan.
9. Toxic fungal infection. Use one zhan of Sesame Oil, add an unspecified amount of Licorice Root (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma), boil once without letting it turn black. Take cold to resolve toxicity.
10. Persistent vomiting. Take a large piece of Ginger (Zingiberis Rhizoma), slice thinly without breaking. Layer salt between slices. Wrap in wet ramie cloth (Ramie Fiber), then wrap in paper. Roast over fire moistened with water until the paper is dry. Remove the cloth and paper, mash the ginger, and sip slowly with thin rice gruel to stop vomiting. In northern regions where ramie is unavailable, summer linen cloth may be used.
11. Coughing continuously for forty to fifty times. Use one he of fresh juice from Ginger with peel (Zingiberis Rhizoma cum Scaly Base), add two teaspoons of White Honey (Apis Mellifica Alba), place in a teacup, boil thoroughly, and drink warm. Cure within three to four doses.
12. Common cold due to wind-cold invasion, with fever, headache, and abdominal pain. Use a large piece of Ginger with peel, seven scallion whites with roots, three walnuts with shells, crush them finely, add a pinch of fine tea, three bowls of water, boil hot, and drink. Cover with blankets to induce sweating.
13. Hemorrhoids protruding, with continuous pain and difficulty sitting or standing. First, wash Chinese Chive leaves (Allium tuberosum), boil in a clay or wooden vessel, and steam the affected area. Wash with hand-scooped water to heal. If not resolved, slice Ginger thinly, place on the most painful hemorrhoid, and moxa (Moxibustion: burning mugwort on acupoints) three cones (moxa cones) on top. Yellow fluid will discharge, and swelling subsides. For two or three hemorrhoids on the anus, repeat the moxibustion method every three to five days individually; highly effective.
14. Elderly patients with cough, wheezing, irritability, heat sensation, inability to eat, regurgitation upon eating, and abdominal distension. Mix fifteen he of Ginger juice (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens) and four liang of White Sugar (Saccharum Officinale). Warm gently over low heat. Rinse mouth twenty times to stop symptoms. Hold half a spoonful each time, gradually swallowing the juice.
15. Cold damage causing chest and diaphragm discomfort, including all types of cold binding, heat binding, water binding, food binding, stagnant qi binding, blood binding, phlegm binding, branch binding, major and minor chest fullness syndromes, and stagnant qi accumulation. Mash Ginger into a paste, strain out the juice, retain the dregs. Stir-fry the dregs until hot, wrap in silk, and gently rub and press over the chest, heart, and hypochondrium. Fullness and pain will resolve spontaneously. If the ginger dregs cool, add more ginger juice, stir-fry again, and apply again. Heat binding does not require stir-frying.
