The gastrointestinal tract of infants and children is fragile, the internal organs are tender and soft, and the blood and qi are not yet robust. Due to taking medicinal substances that they cannot tolerate, the toxicity inherent in the flavors of these medicines causes restlessness, chest oppression, and confusion, or numbness of the mouth and tongue, or sensations like needle pricks. In severe cases, vomiting and diarrhea occur, potentially leading to hematemesis (vomiting blood).
Xuanhusuo San (Corydalis Rhizome Powder)
Resolves various drug toxicities, addressing restlessness, chest oppression, vomiting, diarrhea, and hematemesis.
Corydalis Rhizome (Rhizoma Corydalis Yanhusuo), peeled, 1 liang; Licorice Root (Radix Glycyrrhizae Uralensis), raw; Alum (Alumen), raw, each 0.5 liang.
Grind the above into a fine powder. Take half a qian per dose. Add one small cup of water, decoct until reduced to six-tenths, strain, and let cool to warm before drinking. Sip frequently.
Fancha San (Alum and Tea Powder)
Treats various drug toxicities causing restlessness, numbness of the mouth and tongue, or stinging pain.
Tea Leaves (Caulis et Folium Camelliae Sinensis), 1 liang; Alum (Alumen), 1 liang.
Grind the above into a fine powder. Take half a qian or one qian per dose, mixed with fresh well water. It resolves toxicity immediately.
Another prescription: Resolves hundred types of drug poison. Grind White Hyacinth Bean (Semen Dolichoris Lablabis Albi) into powder, mix with water, and take one or two qian. Alternatively, burn mulberry leaves that have been used for silkworm rearing to ash, grind finely, mix with cold water, take half a qian, and administer frequently.

Rhubarb Radix (Radix et Rhizoma Rhei), steamed; Pinellia Tuber (Rhizoma Pinelliae Ternatae), washed seven times with boiling water, sliced thinly, soaked in ginger juice for one day, then dried; Licorice Root (Radix Glycyrrhizae Uralensis), honey-fried; Venus Stone (Lapis Auripigmenti? Grind the above into an extremely fine powder. Mix in one zi amount of finely ground Borneol (Bingpian). Take one zi or half a qian per dose, mixed with fresh water. Qian Yi also prescribed Spikenard Root (Radix Nardostachyos) and Agastache Leaf (Folium Agastaches) powders, one qian each, reducing the Rhubarb dosage by half.
Infantile scalp sores arise from heat within the internal organs rushing upward to the head, compounded externally by wind-dampness. These pathogens interact and obstruct blood and qi, generating sores. Hence, it is called "scalp sore." This condition differs specifically from alopecia barbae-like scurf (tucuang). Tucuang presents with white or red lesions covered by hard crusts all over the head. Scalp sores, however, appear only in one or two localized areas; their crusts are not white, hard, or dry but constantly exude purulent blood and wet fluid. Commonly known as "growing scalp sores," this occurs when infants neglect washing their hair.
Xuanjingshi San (Xuanjing Stone Powder)
Treats infantile scalp sores.
Taiyin Xuanjing Stone (Lapis Aragoniti); Cold Water Stone (Lapis Calcitae), each 1 fen, ground; Calomel (Hydrargyri Chloridum Mite); Musk (Moschus), each a small amount.

Grind the above into powder, mix in one zi amount of Musk, and blend evenly. Apply a small amount mixed with oil. If the lesion is moist, apply dry powder directly.
Danshi San (Light-colored Fermented Soybean Powder)
Treats as described above.
Light-colored Fermented Soybeans (Semen Sojae Praeparatum), stir-fried until black and charred; Vitriol (Calcanthitis? Note: Jiangfan refers to roasted alum/vitriol), each 1 liang; Calomel (Hydrargyri Chloridum Mite), 2 qian.
First grind the first two ingredients into powder, then mix with Calomel evenly. First wash the clean sore with hot lye water derived from willow branch ash. Sprinkle Licorice Root powder on the sore, then apply the medicine mixed with raw sesame oil. If moist, apply dry powder.

Burn horse bones to ash, grind, mix with vinegar, and apply. Apply solidified tiger fat three to four times daily. Mix Polygonum orientale powder with honey and apply; healing occurs with expulsion of parasites, leaving no scar.
Another prescription: Take seven chicken eggs, remove whites and shells, simmer in a copper vessel, and mix with oil for topical application. Also treats dry alopecia without exudate. Burn eggshells to ash, grind, mix with pig fat, and apply.
