Kairu Formula (Open Milk Decoction)
For a newborn infant facing the daytime (when yang qi is abundant). First, decoct licorice root (Gancao, 甘草) in water and administer one or two spoonfuls to expel fetal toxins (Tai Du, 胎毒). Then, begin breastfeeding.
Xisan Fang (Three Washing Formulas)
Decoct bark of the Chinaberry tree (Kulianpi, 苦楝皮) to wash the infant's body. This can prevent ailments such as sores, scabies, insects, and lice.
Yansheng Diyi Fang (First Life-Prolonging Formula)
When the newborn's umbilical cord falls off, bake clay tiles until dry and grind them into powder. For each dose of one fen (a traditional unit of weight), add five li of cinnabar (Zhusha, 朱砂) that has been purified by flying (Feiguo Zhusha, 飞过朱砂). Decoct fresh rehmannia root (Sheng Dihuang, 生地黄), Xuanhuanglian (a variety of Coptis chinensis, 宣黄连), and the root body of angelica sinensis (Dangguishen, 当归身) to make a concentrated decoction, approximately the volume of one or two clamshells. Mix this liquid with the aforementioned powders and apply it to the infant's mouth or nipples. Complete the dosage within one day. On the second day, turbid matter will be excreted in the stool. This ensures lifelong immunity from smallpox, rashes, sores, and toxins. It is truly the first miraculous formula for prolonging life.
Honghe San (Red Velvet Powder)
Used when, after the umbilical cord falls off in a newborn, wind and dampness invade the navel, causing wetness and ulceration.
Take an unspecified amount of red velvet cloth (Hongse Ronghe, 红色绒褐), burn it to ash over a lamp flame, and grind it into a fine powder. Apply the powder to the navel. Cover externally with Taiyi Plaster (Taiyi Gao, 太乙膏).
Longgu San (Dragon Bone Powder)
Take an unspecified amount of dragon bone (Longgu, 龙骨), place it in charcoal fire until it turns red-hot. Remove it, let it cool completely, and grind it into a fine powder. Apply to the navel. Cover externally with a plaster.
Xeshao San (Scorpion Tip Powder)

Grind everything together into a fine powder, then add borneol and musk, grinding again until uniform. Administer mixed with broth made from purple rooster liver (Zixionggan, 紫雄鸡肝).
Note: Regarding umbilical tetanus and convulsive mouth, if the infant has bluish eyebrows, a red face, and abdominal distension, the condition is incurable.

White spots resembling millet grains appear on the infant's palate, named Thrush (Ekou, 鹅口). Scrape away the bad blood using green cloth dipped in bitter tea, ensuring the blood does not fall into the throat. Immediately apply potsoot (Fumo, 釜墨) to the area.
