The *Yangsheng Fang Daoyin Fa* (Prescriptions for Nourishing Life and Guiding and Pulling Methods) states: Sit upright with the spine straightened, slowly inhale air through the nose, hold the nose with the right hand, close the eyes, and exhale. This treats headache and chills associated with Shanghan (Cold Damage), taking sweating as the therapeutic goal.
It also states: Raise the left hand, stomp the left foot, and turn the palm upward; inhale through the nose forty times to eliminate body heat and back pain.
The *Yangsheng Fang Daoyin Fa* states: Frequently, during the time of the rooster's crow (Ji Ming, 3–5 AM), visualize and recite three times the names of the Four Seas Deities to repel various evils and evil spirits, preventing illness. The deity of the East Sea is named A Ming; the deity of the South Sea is named Zhu Rong; the deity of the West Sea is named Ju Cheng; the deity of the North Sea is named Yu Qiang.
It also states: Visualize Heart Qi as red, Liver Qi as green/cyan, Lung Qi as white, Spleen Qi as yellow, and Kidney Qi as black. Let these colors surround the entire body, simultaneously warding off evil spirits. To repel all evils and myriad ghosts, constantly visualize the heart as a flame like a measuring dipper, shining brightly, so that no evil dare interfere, allowing one to enter areas affected by Wen Yi (Warm Epidemics).
The *Yangsheng Fang* states: Feng Junda often rode a green ox; Lu Nvsheng often rode a piebald ox; Meng Zichuo often rode a piebald horse; Yin Gongdu often rode a green mule. People at the time did not know their true identities. Thus it is said: If you wish to avoid death, ask the "Green Ox Daoist." If you wish to attain this coloration (referring to longevity or spiritual transformation), the piebald ox is superior, the green ox is second, and the piebald horse is third. These three colors correspond to the vital energy of generating life. It is said: The ancient "Green Ox" was actually the spirit essence of cypress wood; the "Piebald Ox" was the ancestor of the ancient Divine Ancestor; the "Piebald Horse" was the ancestor of the Divine Dragon. It is said that Daoists riding these creatures on their journeys would cause all evil spirits and epidemic plague demons to bow respectfully and retreat.
The method for prolonging life lies in visualizing Heart Qi as red, Liver Qi as green/cyan, Lung Qi as white, Spleen Qi as yellow, and Kidney Qi as black, letting these energies surround the body. Simultaneously repelling evil spirits, to drive away myriad ghosts, constantly visualize the heart as a blazing fire like a dipper, shining brightly, so that no evil dares interfere, enabling entry into zones of Warm Epidemic.
The *Yangsheng Fang Daoyin Fa* states: Lie supine, bring the knees together, spread the feet, and twist the waist; inhale through the mouth, vibrate the abdomen for seven breaths, to eliminate high fever and pain, and to unblock flaccidity in the lower legs.
It also states: Lie prone without a pillow, stand the feet upright, inhale through the nose forty times, then exhale through the nose. Exert effort to let only subtle air enter the nostrils, without the nose sensing the airflow, to eliminate internal body heat and back pain.
It also states: Support the body with hands placed behind, raise the head facing the sun, inhale through the mouth, and swallow the air dozens of times, to eliminate body heat and necrotic muscle tissue.
