Nowadays, for young married individuals who develop fever, if the treatment is ineffective, physicians invariably diagnose it as "Jia Yin Syndrome" (Syndrome of Intercourse-Induced Pathogen Entrapment) and switch to using large doses of strongly heating and tonifying herbs such as Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata), Guizhi (Cinnamomi Ramulus), Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma), and Dihuang (Rehmanniae Radix Preparata), thereby causing their death. The patient's family blames the patient for carelessness rather than resenting the physician for misdiagnosis. Thus, physicians are eager to mention Jia Yin Syndrome as an excuse to evade responsibility, resulting in numerous unjust deaths. If there are parents present, they may blame the daughter-in-law, while the patient cannot defend themselves, leading to resentment and suicide; the karmic retribution involved is immeasurable. They do not realize that after sexual exhaustion or nocturnal emission, if one contracts wind-cold, the pathogen must enter via the Taiyang Channel (Taiyang Meridian), still belonging to Yang pathogens. The heat will be severe, accompanied by restlessness, oppression, irritability, and thirst. Such cases especially require clearing heat and dispersing pathogens. How can one reverse course and use hot-natured medicines?
Bing notes: Fever occurring after sexual intercourse is termed Jia Yin Syndrome. However, many have doubted this since ancient times. Consulting *Zhang Shi Yi Tong* (Comprehensive Medical Records of Master Zhang) and *Shanghan Zuanshu* (Elucidation of Cold Damage Treatise), there is a section on Jia Yin Syndrome, stating that true cases must present with external symptoms of lower abdominal pain, retraction of the genitalia, and coldness in the calves and shins. The prescribed treatment involves modifications of Xiao Jian Zhong Tang (Minor Construct the Middle Decoction), processed by stir-frying. However, Zhang Jingyue stated: True Shanghan (Cold Damage) is treatable, but for illnesses of this nature occurring in the three seasons (spring, summer, autumn), even if Changsha Wang (referring to Zhang Zhongjing) were reborn, he could not identify them. For those presenting with the aforementioned symptoms, although the lower abdominal pain subsides, the calves warm up, and the genitalia extend, recovery is impossible. I have treated such cases personally. Ye Tianshi said: Individuals who lose essence before or during illness suffer initial injury to Yin Qi. When cold, they feel extreme cold; when hot, they feel intense heat (this indicates the early stage). As the condition worsens and transforms into heat, body fluids easily dry up. These are all cases of internal deficiency where Yang pathogens transmit into Yin channels. Even if not fatal, Shanghan tends to kill those with deficiency in the lower jiao. Ancient sayings also indicate this is not a condition curable by a few doses. Using Guizhi, Fuzi, Renshen, and Dihuang will inevitably cause chest tightness, nausea, reduced appetite, and irritability. For individuals with Yin deficiency constitutions, taking such strongly heating and tonifying drugs will create disease where none existed. Xu Lingtai competed for fame with Ye Tianshi at the time. His writings also exaggerated excessively, similar to your own style. One must read with independent judgment: "Wash your eyes clear as autumn water, so you are never deceived by ancients in your life." This is a verse by Yuan Zicai, which I deeply admire.
If one truly suffers from transmission to the Three Yin Channels (Taiyin, Shaoyin, Jueyin), there would absolutely be no high fever. There must be symptoms such as aversion to cold, fatigue, lying down, cold extremities, and preference for warmth, only then can warming and dispersing methods be used. However, tonification methods should ultimately not be employed. Xu Huixi discussed this in detail. I advise physicians not to lightly speak of Jia Yin Syndrome to harm others, nor for patients' families to blindly believe in Jia Yin Syndrome to harm themselves. Treat according to the syndrome differentiation without panic. In this way, more lives will be saved in the world, and fewer wronged ghosts will exist in the underworld, achieving mutual benefit. As for the term "Jia Yin," it was originally fabricated by mediocre practitioners and can simply be ignored without debate.
