(Cough appearing after convulsions have subsided)
Mr. Mao: Children suffering from Jing Ge Sou (convulsion-induced cough) experience this cough immediately after the symptoms of wind-stroke or convulsions subside, hence the name. Administer Jin Xing Wan (Golden Apricot Pill) combined with Yun Qi San (Qi-Regulating Powder) to restore peace and health. (Both prescriptions are found in this category.) If a child develops a cough within the first month of life, it is fatal if untreated. Because the child's vital qi is not yet robust, coughs occurring within the first month are difficult to cure. If the cough persists despite regulation, leading to sunken heart and protruding chest, thirst without desire to eat or drink, these are signs of impending death.
Mr. Mao's Jin Xing Wan (Golden Apricot Pill)

Grind the above medicines into equal parts. Form pills using honey, sized like ○. Each dose is ten pills, swallowed with cooked Mai Men Dong (Ophiopogonis Radix) water. Mr. Mao also included this prescription in the previous cough category. Since each has its specific indications and cannot be deleted, both are retained.
Mr. Mao's Yun Qi San (Qi-Regulating Powder)
Jie Geng (Platycodonis Radix, remove rhizome head, wash clean, dried weight five liang) Sha Ren (Amomi Fructus Rotundus) Hui Xiang (Foeniculi Fructus, washed) Chen Pi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium, remove pith, each: one liang) Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, two liang, roasted) Bai Jiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Album, one fen)
