According to *Chao's Pathogenesis of Diseases* regarding the condition of "Bulu" (feeding-related emaciation) in infants and children: Improper feeding damages the Spleen and Stomach. The weakness of the Spleen and Stomach leads to an inability to eat, resulting in a depletion of Qi and Blood that fails to nourish the muscles. The body becomes emaciated like firewood, manifesting as Bulu. When the Qi of the Zang-Fu organs fails to circulate freely, it presents as rapid breathing accompanied by painful heat sensation; this is termed "Bulu."
The song from *Yingtong Baojian* on pediatric Bulu:
Pediatric Bulu disease causes physical debility,
Often injuring the Spleen due to irregular hunger and fullness.
Blocked organ Qi generates bodily heat,
Emaciated like firewood, bones standing out, gradually withering away.
*Tai Ping Sheng Hui Fang* prescribes the Ji Gu Wan (Chicken Bone Pill) for treating pediatric Bulu caused by overeating, with symptoms of vexatious heat in the hands and feet, and emaciation without muscle gain:
