Qian Yi discussed Kidney Deficiency. If a child is originally deficient and timid, due to incomplete fetal Qi, then the Spirit (Shen) is insufficient, there is much white sclera in the eyes, and the fontanelle (anterior fontanelle) will be open/splayed. The complexion is pale; all these conditions are difficult to nurture. Even if they grow up, they will not live beyond the age of sixty-four (eight times eight); if parents indulge in sexual desires excessively, the child may die before reaching forty. Or, some cases of Kidney Deficiency caused by illness are not this type. Furthermore, when Kidney Qi is insufficient, Qi descends/collapses downward, because the bones feel heavy and desire to fall downward, causing the body to curl up. Kidney Water belongs to Yin; Kidney Deficiency leads to fear of light. All these should be primarily treated with Bu Shen Di Huang Wan (Tonify the Kidney Rehmannia Pill). (Formula see this section.)
Zhang Huan discussed: When a child's Spleen and Stomach are weak and unable to eat, or after suffering from various major illnesses, Ying and Wei (Nutritive and Defensive Qi) have been gradually damaged. This leads to emaciation of the body, frequent dysentery/diarrhea, a cyanotic-pale complexion, transforming into a deficiency-emaciation disease. Ding Xiang Huang Qi San (Clove and Astragalus Powder) should be used. (Formula see this section.)

Once mixed, use a basin of fresh water, rub soap pod inside, wash the mixed cinnabar until the oil is removed. Place in a clean vessel and soak in fresh water. Take five, seven to ten pills per dose.
