*Chao Shi Bing Yuan* records: Food epilepsy (Shi Xian) is caused by irregular breastfeeding and feeding.
*Tai Ping Sheng Hui Fang* discusses: In children, food epilepsy (Shi Xian) arises from stagnation in the Zang-Fu organs, accumulation of internal heat, and excessive breastfeeding leading to disharmony of Qi and Blood. This is often due to the nursing mother having irregular diet and uncontrolled anger, causing toxic heat to accumulate in the chest. When she immediately breastfeeds the infant, it causes the milk to coagulate and stagnate without dissolving. The pathogenic heat accumulates, blocking the intestines and stomach, preventing free flow, resulting in high fever, frequent fright, and convulsions of the four limbs, thus triggering epilepsy.
Zhang Huan stated: When an attack occurs every time after overeating, it is named food epilepsy (Shi Xian).
