Bazheng San (Eight-Right Decoction): Treats heat accumulation in the Lower Jiao (Lower Burner), resulting in obstruction of urination and defecation.
Ingredients: Huaitong Cao (Akebiae Caulis, 淮木通), Baishihu (Gypsum Fibrosum, 白滑石), Hei Zhiren (Gardeniae Fructus, 黑栀仁), Cheqianzi (Plantaginis Semen, 车前子), Qumai Sui (Dianthi Herba, 瞿麦穗), Jinzhuang Huang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, 锦庄黄), Baimangxiao (Natrii Sulfas, 白芒硝), Xushicao (Polygoni Avicularis Herba, 蓄). All ingredients are used in equal proportions, adjusted according to the child's age.
Preparation and Administration: Set aside Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma) and Mangxiao (Natrii Sulfas). Decoct the remaining six herbs in water until thoroughly cooked. Add Dahuang and boil for more than ten times. Strain the liquid and clarify it. Finally, dissolve Mangxiao in the decoction and take orally.
Yanqi Fa (Umbilical Covering Method): Treats heat accumulation in the Middle and Lower Jiao, causing constipation of both stool and urine.
Ingredients: Seven stalks of scallion with roots (unwashed), one large piece of fresh ginger, three qian of Dan Douchi (Fermented Soybean, 淡豆豉), three qian of salt.
Operation: Pound the above ingredients together into a paste to form a cake. Heat the cake on a small pot (diao), then apply it to the umbilicus and secure it tightly with a cloth strip. After a long period, when Qi circulation is restored, bowel and bladder movements will naturally become unobstructed.
Midao Fa (Honey Suppository Method): Treats obstruction of both stool and urine. By relieving constipation, Qi circulation in the Lower Jiao is promoted, and urination becomes unobstructed spontaneously.
Preparation: Take eight liang of winter honey and refine it until it forms beads that do not disperse when dropped in water. Add two qian of fine powder from Zaojiao (Gleditsiae Sinensis Fructus, 皂角) and mix evenly. Allow to cool slightly, then shape into a stick the size of a little finger. Coat the outside with scallion juice and gently insert it into the anus (Gudao). When Qi circulates, both stool and urine will pass freely.
In critical cases where obstruction of both stool and urine persists for two or three days, burn Zaojiao (Gleditsiae Sinensis Fructus) to ash, grind it into powder, and administer one qian mixed with rice soup for immediate relief.
Another prescription: Mix one zhan of honey, one qian of Pixiao (Natrii Sulfas, 皮硝), and one zhan of plain boiled water. Take on an empty stomach. Additionally, burn Zaojiao in a bucket to produce smoke, and have the child sit on the bucket to fumigate the perineal area, which will induce passage.
Another prescription: Use one Caowu (Aconiti Radix, 草乌), peel off the skin, rub with a small amount of Shexiang (Moschus, 麝香), coat with sesame oil, and gently insert into the anus. This formula is named Pili Jian (Thunderbolt Arrow) and acts very swiftly.
If obstruction of both stool and urine persists despite numerous ineffective treatments, accompanied by abdominal distension and pain, throat blockage sensation, phlegm congestion with wheezing, inability to consume food or water, and imminent death, emergency rescue is required. Prescription: Gan Sui (Kansui Radix, 甘遂) five fen, wrapped in flour and roasted until cooked, removed and ground into powder. Add three li of Shexiang (Moschus). Form pills using rice paste. Children take two fen, adults take five fen, taken with ginger soup.
Another prescription: Apply scallion juice to a small bamboo tube and insert it into the anus. Grind five qian of Mangxiao (Natrii Sulfas) into fine powder, mix with half a zhan of sesame oil and a small amount of Zaojiao powder. Administer enema into the anus; passage occurs shortly thereafter.
