Xiaoji Wan (Accumulation-Dissolving Pill): Refer to the "Vomiting Section" in Volume III for this formula.
Muxiang Binglang Wan (Aucklandia and Areca Nut Pill): Refer to the "Food Injury Section" in Volume III for this formula.
Liu Junzi Tang (Six Gentlemen Decoction): Refer to the "Convulsion Section" in Volume III for this formula. The version mentioned here is modified by adding Ezhu (Curcuma Zedoaria Rhizome) and Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix).
Xiaoji Wan: It has the functions of resolving food accumulation, resolving fluid retention, resolving Qi stagnation, resolving epigastric fullness, resolving abdominal distension, reducing swelling, and dissipating accumulations. Its effects are very rapid. However, it should not be used for patients with chronic illness who are emaciated and deficient. Compared to the Xiaoji Wan mentioned earlier, this formula has a milder and less harsh action.
Prescription: Xiangfu Mi (Cyperi Rhizoma, stir-fried with wine, 1 liang), Wulingzhi (Trogopterori Faeces, washed clean, 1 liang), Hei Qianniu (Pharbitidis Semen Nigrum, stir-fried, head ends removed, 2 liang).
Grind all ingredients into a fine powder. Use vinegar and wheat flour paste to make pills the size of mung beans. Take 10–20 pills per dose, administered with ginger decoction well after meals.
For accumulation caused by cold food or indigestible substances: Boil fresh ginger and Perilla leaves to make a strong decoction, pour it into a bath basin, and let the patient sit in the warm liquid. Rub the abdomen and chest with hands, and pour hot liquid over the body. Once Qi circulation is restored, the accumulation will dissolve.
Another method: Mash fresh ginger and Perilla leaves separately, stir-fry them until hot, wrap in cloth, and apply as a compress to the chest and abdomen. If it cools down, reheat and compress again. This is highly effective.
For food stagnation that fails to digest: Stir-fry 2 liang of Jiuniuqu (Baijiu Qu, small yeast cakes for brewing Baijiu). Mix with 1 liang of fine powder from Laomaiya (Hordei Fructus Germinatus, old malt). Grind into a fine powder. Take 2 qian per dose, mixed with plain boiled water. This is particularly effective for injuries caused by zongzi (sticky rice dumplings) and glutinous rice.
For food stagnation causing fullness and inability to digest: Stir-fry 1 sheng of glutinous rice until hot. Wrap in cloth, divide into two packs, and alternately apply to the umbilical and abdominal area to assist Spleen Qi transformation. The stagnation will resolve immediately.
For meat stagnation that fails to digest: Crush 30 Hanzhaizi (Crataegi Fructus, hawthorn seeds), boil in water to make a strong decoction, and drink. The accumulation will naturally dissolve.
For accumulation caused by eating dog meat, which can be fatal if untreated: Boil 24 pieces of Shanzharon (Crataegi Fructus flesh) and 24 kernels of Xingren (Prunus Armeniaca Seed, peeled and cored) in water to make a strong decoction, and drink. The accumulation will naturally dissolve.
For abdominal distension and indigestion caused by beef consumption: Boil a handful of Gandaocao (Dry Rice Straw) in water to make a boiling hot decoction, and drink. The accumulation will resolve on its own.
For abdominal distension caused by consuming wheat products: Extract juice from fresh ginger, mix with good-quality hot wine, and drink. The distension will resolve. Alternatively, extract juice from raw radish and drink it while warm; this is also highly effective. When consuming wheat products, one must always consume vinegar to prevent bloating entirely.
For abdominal pain and distension caused by eating water caltrops: Extract natural juice from fresh ginger, mix with boiling water, and drink. The symptoms will resolve immediately.
For abdominal distension and shortness of breath caused by excessive consumption of raw fruits and vegetables: Use Zhen Qinghuagui (Cinnamomi Cortex, specifically high-quality Qinghua variety), remove the rough bark, grind the inner bark into a fine powder. Mix with rice paste to form pills the size of mung beans. Children take 5 pills per dose, slightly older children take 10 pills, administered with water. Stop medication once the disease is cured.
In pediatric cases where misdiagnosis leads to the incorrect use of incompatible herbs, resulting in restlessness or incessant vomiting and diarrhea: To detoxify, decoct 1 cup of Heidou (Sojae Semen Nigrum, black soybeans) and 3 qian of Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) in water to make a strong decoction, and drink. The toxicity will naturally resolve. If black soybeans are unavailable, green soybeans (Lvdou) are also suitable.
