The Classic states: "All pain, itching, sores, and ulcers belong to Heart Fire." Among all sores, boils, and scabies in the world, children suffer from them the most. Is it because their tender yang and pure qi easily interact with the fire policies of the annual cycle? Or is it due to their lack of awareness, where improper regulation of cold and warmth disrupts their physiological balance? Furthermore, there are toxins inherited from parents that become lifelong harms to the child; how can we not treat these?
When infants are born with widespread insect-like scabies or weeping wind sores, these are all manifestations of fetal toxins. Do not use external treatments; instead, administer internal Huma Wan (Sesame Pill). If external washing is mistakenly used, it may force the toxin into the abdomen, causing abdominal distension, which is a critical condition. In such cases, urgently administering Jiedu Tang (Detoxification Decoction) is advisable.
If a child has sores on the head, face, and body, and without any prior external treatment, the sores suddenly flatten while symptoms of phlegm, wheezing, and rapid breathing appear, do not use purgative methods. Instead, use Lianqiao Wan (Forsythia Pill) to resolve and support.
For children under one year old, regardless of the type of sore or scabies, external application and washing are not suitable. The primary treatment should always be Huma Wan, which is the most stable approach.
When children develop carbuncles, toxic swellings, or boils, it is due to qi and blood stagnation combined with fire-heat invasion. Internally administer Dabu Tang (Great Tonifying Decoction); externally apply Zijin Ding (Purple Gold Pellet). For tuberculous swelling and fever in the neck, internally administer Huma Wan; externally apply powder made from Chinese Gallnut (Wubeizi) mixed with vinegar and water. Changing the dressing twice a day is optimal.
